Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, leaving us feeling lost and isolated by persistent grief or conflicting expectations. My goal is to create a welcoming environment where you feel truly understood and valued. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Colorado, and I have worked in the counseling field for over 30 years, beginning my career as a wilderness counselor. I earned my master's degree in 1989 and my doctorate in 2016. If you are seeking support to navigate life's challenges and want a counselor who will listen with empathy and help you feel seen, I invite you to connect with my practice. Together, we can find your path forward.

Do you feel sad, overwhelmed or stuck? Are you facing a difficult life transition or maybe you are struggling in your relationship? The circumstances of life can leave us feeling alone and uncertain of what lies ahead. We are more than our problems. We were not designed to face these deep challenges alone. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, stress, aging, family conflict or life transitions, I’m here to work with you. In our deeply isolated and atomized society, seeking help can be a radical act. It can also require a leap of faith; you are trusting that someone you do not know will be able to help you navigate the challenges you face. By being here, you have already begun the work that will set you on a path toward greater connectedness and contentment. My passion is helping and together we will co-create ways for you to find hope, meaning, identify patterns, overcome obstacles and develop a pathway to meet your goals. I work with adolescents age 16 through adults offering individual, couples and family counseling. I aim to create a safe and compassionate space to help you understand your experiences and relationships with greater ease and more joy. Deep, loving and mutually gratifying relationships can happen in many configurations. In a non-judgmental way, I work to support you in having the relationships you want to have with the people you love.
Talking to someone who can and does understand, helps. And it can help even further if your therapist can guide you into deeper understandings of what you are going through and how you are going through it. Some ways of dealing are more optimal than other. My job is to enable you to see the many paths available to you and strengthen your courage to make your best and most conscious choices.
Welcome! I specialize in working with anxiety, relationship concerns, and eating/body image issues. College can be a whirlwind of new experiences, freedoms, and responsibilities. Add to that the current state of the world, and things can easily feel heavy. It's common that in the overwhelm of managing it all, anxiety around life, relationships, and food becomes a way to cope. If you've been struggling, you don't have to carry the weight of it alone-- finding a therapist you like and trust can change everything. I am trained in somatic therapy, which means we include body awareness as a way to get beneath the conscious mind and anxious thoughts that play on repeat. This helps to get in touch with what's really going on and find sustainable relief. Clients often say that somatic therapy promotes deeper change than other types of therapy they've tried before. I know it can take a lot of energy to start with a new therapist. I'm proud of you for caring for yourself by taking these steps. Reach out for a free 30-minute call so we can get to know each other and see if it's a good fit. I look forward to hearing from you!

I specialize in helping individuals recovery from eating disorders, disordered eating, compulsive/obligatory exercise, body image distress and associated anxiety and depression. I practice virtually in Colorado so accessing counseling is flexible and convenient. I understand the challenges of academic rigor at Mines and have worked with many Mines students -undergrad and grad. As a relationship, gender, and sexuality therapist, I'm here to help you to create more intimacy and connection in your relationships, explore your identities, and recalibrate toward a more authentic and compassionate life. I am particularly passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ folks in exploring and healing from internalized homophobia and transphobia as they often manifest in anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. Drawing primarily from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), modern psychodynamic theory, and intersectional queer theory, I provide a validating and non-judgmental space for people to heal from past experiences and find deeper connection with themself and others. If you feel motivated to look at hard truths, ready to question what you’ve been taught you “should” be, and are even willing to sit in moments of discomfort and uncertainty along the way, we might be a great fit for working together. Regarding fees: I hold a limited number of reduced rate spots (starting at $100 per session) for folks who are unable to afford the full fee due to a range of factors such as low-paying employment and otherwise limited access to a financial safety net. Please reach out if you'd like to discuss more.

I am a sex-positive, polyamory-affirming, and kink-informed therapist. I draw from an eclectic knowledge base that includes queer theory, disability justice, anti-racism, intersectionality, and fat liberation. My clinical perspective is influenced by attachment theory, humanistic theory, and systems theory. I have been trained in many evidence-based modalities, such as ACT, CBT, DBT, solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, and others. I do not believe that anyone can truly provide therapy from an objective lens and welcome your questions about how my training and lived experience inform the way we interact. I approach therapy from a relational, strengths-based, and person-centered lens. This means I will tailor our therapeutic work to your specific goals and strengths, allowing you to lead as the expert of your own experiences. I do not incorporate any particular structure into sessions and allow you to guide us to what feels relevant to you in the moment. My clients meet with me at all types of frequencies from twice weekly to once a month. This depends on the intensity of your mental health challenges, my current openings, and your processing style.
