You've been feeling anxious, depressed, maybe your relationships are struggling. Feeling overwhelmed, like you are not in control of your life can get in the way of your job, school, your confidence and your ability to be present in daily life. You might be thinking, "nobody knows what I'm going through" or have thoughts telling you that “you are just not good enough.” Healing is possible. Get the help that you need to move on from the difficult things that have happened to you. It is my number one goal to support you and help you experience a sense of safety and stability. You will learn coping mechanisms and ways of managing the overwhelming feelings and emotions. I use EMDR and sensorimotor psychotherapy, which just means working with the body. I believe our bodies can help us in the process of healing. EMDR is very effective for depression, anxiety, PTSD and much more.
Welcome — you don’t have to figure this out alone. College can be exciting and overwhelming. Between classes, exams, relationships, finances, and figuring out who you’re becoming, it’s easy to feel anxious, stressed, or burned out. If your mind feels like it won’t slow down, your body feels constantly tense, or you’re putting pressure on yourself to “have it all together,” you’re not broken—you’re human. I work with college students who want relief from anxiety and stress, and who are ready to build coping skills that actually fit real life. Therapy with me is down-to-earth, supportive, and practical. We’ll focus on helping you understand what’s happening inside you, calm your nervous system, and develop tools so you can feel more confident, grounded, and like yourself again. You don’t need to be in crisis to start therapy. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or just tired of carrying everything on your own, this can be a space to pause, breathe, and get support—without judgment.
I use a variety of creative therapy techniques, such as Nature-Based Therapy, Art Therapy, Play Therapy, Mindfulness, and accessing your instincts, to help you through challenges. My clients typically have huge hearts and are ready for support! I give you practical tools, like how to communicate well and how to handle stressful situations. I love supporting people, so you don't have to be alone in sticky situations. For more info, call me!

My practice supports individuals, families, and systems in working through trauma, substance use, identity development, and relationship challenges. I specialize in working with young adults, LGBTQIA+ clients, and those navigating motivation difficulties, emotional neglect, complex trauma or life transitions. With a grounded, creative, and often humorous approach, I integrate Brainspotting, contemplative psychotherapy, and sex therapy (AASECT-certified), along with elements of DBT, play therapy, and mindfulness-based relapse prevention. I also help clients with integration of spiritual experiences and psychedelic work. Whether in individual or family work, I aim to help clients cultivate emotional autonomy, find congruence between values and action, and build meaningful connections within themselves and their communities.
You and your life isn’t one note. You are multifaceted and the demands you face happen to be as well – particularly when you are a student. Currently, the sound-track of your life has moved away from the sounds of a harmonious symphony -or maybe from an upbeat pop song- to something more unnerving and stressful (like the alarm you use to wake up to in the morning or the background music in a horror film—building tension, bracing yourself from some known or unknown threat). It makes sense that life has been overwhelming -increased responsibilities and life demands alone would contribute to this feeling. Add fears about the future, a recent breakup, challenging relationship dynamics with family, and/or other stressors and you might find yourself tipping the scales of your emotional bandwidth. I help students focus on the unique aspects of their lives that are no longer serving them – with empathy, tools, problem-solving, and emotional healing and growth. I believe you can have a richer and higher-quality of life– free from the overwhelming influence of your current life demands, harmful past experiences, poor modeling, and environmental toxicities (psychological). I am a board-certified psychiatrist in private practice. I work mainly through insight-oriented psychotherapy, but I also offer diagnostic evaluations and prescribing services. Patients see me for a variety of concerns around self-esteem, trauma, attachment, dependency, boundaries, self-criticism, and childhood abuse/neglect. These issues may lead to shame, guilt, anxiety, irritability, mood swings, perfectionism, self-loathing, or repeated conflicts with family, colleagues, or romantic partners. Therapy is a chance to think carefully together about your past and present experiences to deepen your insight into your situation. As we come to understand your inner world, I hope you will gradually notice a greater sense of flexibility, freedom, and openness to life's many joys and challenges. As a psychiatrist, I am happy to help with diagnostic clarification and medical treatment of most general psychiatric conditions including mood and anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, ADHD, and others. While medications alone often fail to address the deeper conflicts and traumas that cause our symptoms, a thoughtful approach to prescribing can help build a foundation for the personal work that leads to lasting change. I have special experience working with university students and early career professionals in medicine, academia, law, tech, and the arts. I enjoy working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, and I welcome and affirm those who may identify as LGBTQIA+ or neurodivergent.
My practice is dedicated to working with people who are seeking emotional emancipation. They desire to claim or reclaim their lives after traumatic experiences or relational struggles that have left them feeling down, anxious, lonely, confused or scared and often don't really know how to begin to be different in the midst of all of these feelings. Working with me means exploring together the experiences that make you who you are by looking both at what your life is like today and how your past is informing that life. From this vantage, you can learn to make choices for yourself, freeing the yourself to engage in a life of your own making. I offer a free consultation and my fee is $300.
Everyone deserves the chance to be well and enjoy life! Throughout our lifetimes, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, relationships, work, and health challenge us all. I would be honored to assist you in your healing process and partner with you on any issue(s) that may be contributing to emotional and/or social pain. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who focuses on treating the whole person. I specialize in assisting individuals on issues related to substance abuse, depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationships. I use knowledge of embodiment/somatic meditation, cognitive inquiry, neurobiology, self-compassion, and general wellness in my practice. My therapeutic style involves providing support and feedback in a safe and empathetic space. I approach therapy in a client-centered, strengths-based, and trauma-informed way. I hope for our sessions to be simply conversations, as you are the expert on your life. Everyone has a story, and I look forward to joining you on your journey towards growth.
Have you ever wondered what therapy could be like using art materials and activities? I support college students and young adults use the power of creativity to process emotions, gain insight, work through challenges, and overcome hardships through transformative art. My style is relational, collaborative, and mindful. My clients describe me as: Grounded, relatable, supportive, humorous, comforting, non-judgmental, and patient. Using materials like paint, clay, and pastel, you'll explore your emotions, build self esteem, take healthy risks, problem solve, and sometimes just play and discover! You'll also practice coping skills, mindfulness, body awareness, relational skills, boundary setting, identifying/processing/regulating emotions, & dive into how your thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected. I personally know what it’s like to deeply struggle through teen and young adult years. And I know what it’s like to receive help, work through it, and come out on the other side empowered. If you're reading this and it sounds like a good fit, then I will likely feel that way too. 1st step: Reach out for a free consult call - I'd love to hear more about you!
"Resilience is based on being able to accept ambiguity and find hope amid uncertain conditions." This notion, shared by Dr. Pauline Boss, is one that is central to my clinical practice. We all have points in our lives when stress, change, or loss, may leave us feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or unsure of what lies ahead. The opportunity to warmly welcome clients into my office to re-gain their center, tap into internal resources, and nurture the development of new strategies is one I welcome each time I meet someone new. Rocky, my therapy dog, provides an added level of comfort for clients.
A Stoa Therapy provider. For most families, finding a qualified speech-language pathologist means long waitlists, limited local options, and clinics that don't take their insurance. For adults navigating a voice disorder or recovering from a stroke, the barriers are just as real. We built Stoa Therapy to solve that. By delivering care over telehealth and working directly with insurance, we connect patients across Virginia, Colorado, Illinois, and Louisiana with SLPs who have specialized training in exactly what they need. The result is care that's easier to start, easier to sustain, and genuinely effective. Get matched, visit: https://stoa-therapy.com/
I am passionate about my work and aim to build a collaborative partnership with my clients, fostering transformation, fulfillment, and growth. I believe in establishing trust and letting the present moment guide the therapeutic process. I work toward developing a deeper understanding of how our body sensations, mind, and emotions shape our sense of well-being. Throughout my 25 years of experience, I have worked with a wide range of counseling and therapy modalities. I'm bilingual in English and Hebrew and can offer services in both languages. One of the most important elements of therapy is finding the right fit. To explore whether working with me feels right for you, please email me at ornapele@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you.
