I address anxiety stemming from social, school, and family dynamics, providing the necessary support to navigate these changes. I assist in the transition from college to career, including complexities in dating, family, and work, offering a safe space to explore self-identity and achieve life goals. We will collaborate using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Narrative Therapy. What does this mean? It means we will identify the false scripts keeping you stuck and create a new storyline where you are the main character shaping your life. In my space, every uncomfortable feeling is accepted, and every question is worth asking. Whether you’ve never sought counseling before or have been in therapy for years, I believe my approach is unique. My goal is to empower you and watch you succeed. So, let's connect and collaboratively rewrite your narrative.

I work with individuals and couples in Georgia who are seeking support for various mental health challenges. Many of my clients have difficulties related to anxiety, depression, and past trauma that get in the way of enjoying life and thriving to their fullest potential. I also work with people who are diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, and related conditions. The foundation of my therapy is a collaborative relationship based on warmth and acceptance. I look beyond the mental health “condition” and seek to understand you as a person, influenced by your identities and past experiences. I will work collaboratively with you to develop goals for therapy and a plan to attain those goals. I provide a tailored therapy experience by utilizing a variety of evidence-based approaches, including CBT, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), interpersonal therapy, emotion-focused couples therapy, and the Gottman Method. Overall, I seek to empower you with the skills to live a meaningful life based on your personal goals and values. Whether you are interested in individual therapy or couples counseling, I am looking forward to connecting with you and working together to create the change you are seeking. Feel free to visit my webpage to learn more about me and my work!

Who would you be if you believed you actually could? If you knew you already are? My approach to therapy centers on the belief that “healing is making whole.” Whether dealing with issues of addiction, depression and anxiety, self-knowledge and self-worth, sexual orientation and gender identity, trauma or relationship concerns, life transitions attention is, therefore, given to the whole of the individual – heart, mind, body and soul. So many of us feel stuck, repeating patterns of behavior we consciously experience a desire to let go of. What keeps us doing what we believe we don’t want to do is that we are disconnected from the places within us where our actions come from. In my work with clients I care most about helping others uncover their truth – without judgment. I see psychotherapy as an invitation and permission to reveal, explore and practice embodying the wholeness of who we are, in order to develop a greater sense of fullness, choice and empowerment in our lives. And I very much see psychotherapy as a partnership and a journey, one which I am repeatedly humbled and grateful to be allowed to accompany others on. In addition, as a certified yoga instructor, the teachings of classical yoga inform my psychotherapy work with both individuals and couples. Yoga ‘on the mat’ may be a possible element of our work for interested clients, but more often this takes the form of our exploring how to live and practice the principles of yoga ‘off the mat.’

I am an integrative, humanistic therapist who draws from many approaches to best serve my clients. I place an emphasis on creating a secure therapeutic relationship to foster a sense of safety and openness for clients. As we go through life, we develop habits and coping strategies to protect ourselves. I respect these coping mechanisms for the important role they play in helping us navigate the challenges of life. However, sometimes the very strategies that once helped us can become limiting or harmful. My goal is to support my clients in letting go of those old patterns and in discovering healthier, more effective ways to move forward. My work is rooted in empathy and the deep respect I have for each individual’s unique perspectives and life experiences. Humans are resilient beings, and I hope to help you bring awareness to the resilience within you.

A licensed psychologist, I received both my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology and my M.S. in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University. When faced with difficult situations, we often feel discouraged. I believe that a safe, supportive environment is key to growth, and I offer plenty of encouragement. I help clients gain perspective through empathic exploration. We’re all doing the best we can in life, but sometimes we get in our own way. As much as I’m comfortable with deep emotions, I also believe in the importance of bringing laughter and humor into the room!

Do you find yourself constantly wondering if you measure up? Have passing thoughts that if people knew the real you they wouldn't hire you, be your friend, respect or admire you? Holding yourself to a high standard provides some amazing benefits AND it can really hold you back if it's an all-or-nothing situation. When your worth and value are on the line in every interaction, you live in a constant state of anxiety and have a hard time resting or enjoying your down time. When I was in my twenties, I was anxious and depressed but I never would've used those labels at the time. My life was great on paper – I thought I was happy because I thought should be happy. Then, in the moments when I noticed that I wasn’t feeling great, I beat myself up for not being positive and upbeat or grateful enough for everything I had. I thought that just feeling kinda sad and worried most of the time was normal and inevitable. The truth is, it is pretty normal, but it's not inevitable. In fact, part of what drives me to help people is that the level of unease I felt seems so common. I strongly suspect that there are people suffering needlessly who don't know that there are ways to feel better. One thing to know up front: working with me is weird! My clients who've been to therapy before or seen it on TV are often surprised by a few things about my practice. There's homework, and we'll both be writing things down in sessions. We won't just talk about the things you think and feel, we'll work together to change them for the better.

I find myself often working with high-achieving folks who have been thrown one too many curve balls in life. Whether it's a life transition, a break up, overwhelm with work, stress with family members, or a death, these folks find themselves at the end of their rope and needing to find a pressure-release valve.

It can be one of the most difficult steps to make that first phone call for therapy. Typically, we are making that call when life feels the most stressful or when we are feeling at our most vulnerable. I strive to support the courage, strength, and determination involved in seeking support. Described by clients as caring, supportive, and warm, I believe each person possesses innate skills and strengths that can be utilized within therapy. I value strengths-based, person-in-environment, cognitive-behavioral, and motivational therapeutic approaches to support each individual’s intrinsic worth and value. I love working with adults, couples, and families to explore difficulties in coping emotionally, breaking the cycle of addiction or substance use, balancing life stressors, establishing self-esteem, setting healthy boundaries, and maintaining healthy relationships. I strive to help you find your voice, offer new coping skills, and explore presenting concerns within a non-judgmental and warm environment. Think we might be a good fit? I enjoy working with relationships and relational problems, self-esteem and self-hate, trauma and recovery, identity concerns (including but not limited to sexuality, diversity in gender, atheists and other types of secular individuals), and veterans. I also have worked in a VA CBOC outpatient clinic and have an extensive history of work with young adults (specifically in collegiate mental health). I utilize a collaborative approach grounded in interpersonal process. My theory of practice is guided by the needs of the client, using a mix of cognitive and psychodynamic theories alongside elements of feminist and relational theories. I have experience working within varied mental health settings, including veterans and interdisciplinary treatment teams. Lets work together and begin to figure out the answers to the questions and struggles you face. I welcome clients of all ages, all backgrounds, all identities. My practice is affirming of all genders, all sexual orientations, all ethnic identities, all religious identities, and inclusive and welcoming of all intersections therein.

I work with undergraduate and graduate students who are struggling with a variety of mental health, substance use, and existential problems. My patients are often looking to reduce their suffering and increase their sense of meaning and purpose in life. I especially enjoy working with people who are interested in a deeper self-understanding and working together to uncover the feelings, narratives, conflicts, and motivations that may be ruling their lives but outside of their awareness. My first priority when working with new patients is to establish trust and help create a relationship that is safe and honest. Within the context of this secure relationship, my patients are able to better understand their self-limiting or self-defeating patterns, mourn life's losses, and establish or reestablish a life that is organized around the values that matter most to them. My hope is that my patients will develop a reliable self-esteem, improve their ability to be in relationship with self and others, and live life with less reactivity and more flexibility. I received an MSW degree from the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Social Work before gaining clinical experience in diverse settings all along the addiction medicine levels of care. I opened a private practice in 2023 and currently provide services to adolescents, adults, families, and organizations.
