Therapists for college students near 30309
Hi, I'm glad you are reaching out for help and to begin the process of self-discovery. Due to COVID, I'm currently providing only telehealth sessions. We can all encounter barriers — often these are out of our awareness — that prevent us from thriving in our careers and in relationships. I believe the therapeutic relationship offers a unique opportunity in the here-and-now to increase our self-awareness and understand the influence of the past on our present behavior. I work collaboratively, empathically and creatively to help you get “unstuck” and to foster meaningful, lasting change in your inner world and in your relationships with others. Over the years, I have worked with people who are experiencing challenges related to college, work, intimate relationships, identity (cultural, racial, sexual, gender, class – and intersections of these), trauma, grief, adjustments or transitions, anxiety and depression. I have worked for many years with graduate and undergraduate students.
I have been counseling clients for over 25 years, helping people from all walks of life to overcome barriers to living a healthier and happier life. I have especially enjoyed working with college students who may struggle with increased levels of stress, anxiety or depression or have difficulty feeling comfortable and supported in this new environment. Whether you are struggling with addiction issues, depression, anxiety, anger, sexual identity issues, relationship issues, feeling overwhelmed by life's demands, or seeking a deeper sense of purpose and meaning, we can work together to find solutions. Life can be full of pain and struggle, but it is also full of beauty and inspiration. If you have become overwhelmed by the struggle, let's begin today to lighten your burden. I offer a safe, non-judgmental place for you to share your challenges and deepest needs. I believe you have the ability to succeed and thrive when given the right tools and support. I can help you manage overwhelming emotions more effectively, to recognize and change self-defeating patterns of thinking and behaving and to heal from past traumas. In a world that can be very isolating, we all need a place where we can feel deeply heard and understood. I have such gratitude for the help and support I received along the way in my own therapy to overcome challenges and become the best version of myself. I would love to give you this same gift and would consider it a privilege to share in your journey.
You have been trying to do the right things in your relationships but it seems like everything you do either backfires or results in the same conflict. This leaves you anxious and feeling as though there is no hope in your family, social or love life. You have the suspicion that past childhood trauma or previous feelings of abandonment are impacting your current romantic relationships. You may have explored your attachment style and want to get a handle on how to not let your past impact your future. Maybe you are someone who gets along well in your relationships - perhaps, too well because you aren’t implementing healthy boundaries. You’re drained but don’t know how to get out of the cycle because everyone now expects for you to be the “strong” friend, or adult child. Perhaps you are someone who is going through the difficult transition into separation, divorce, and or coparenting. You might even be experiencing one or any combination of the things above, and find yourself over relying on coping skills like emotional eating, drinking, using substances, etc. that are counterproductive.
I support high-functioning, thoughtful adults who feel overwhelmed inside—especially introverts, highly sensitive people, or those navigating anxiety, depression, or life transitions. I offer a calm, non-judgmental space to slow down, understand what’s beneath the surface, and build clarity, resilience, and deeper self-trust.

Anxiety, depression, parenting, and work life balance are a few of many things that we are faced with each day, in addition to people asking us to perform despite being weighed down by those challenges. Who we are and who we want to be may not always align with who we are expected to be. Through our work together, we will explore boundaries, educational tools, and coping skills to rise to resilience and show up each day as our best self despite life’s hardships. Awareness is the foundation for change, and we will work together to enhance our personal awareness to build a more functional and peace filled existence.
We all experience loss in life. Hello and welcome! Life can feel like a lot sometimes. You might be feeling overwhelmed by academic pressure, anxiety or depression, questioning your path, navigating complicated relationships, or trying to hold it all together while everyone else seems to be thriving. College and student life can bring growth and independence, but also burnout, impostor syndrome, loneliness, and identity questions. You don’t have to navigate it alone. I specialize in working with students experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, and family or relationship challenges. Many of the clients I work with are untangling complex family dynamics, healing from past experiences, or learning how to set boundaries while honoring their cultural or personal values. I also support neurodiverse clients, including those with ADHD and executive functioning challenges, and understand the stress that can come from masking or feeling misunderstood in academic spaces. My approach blends cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic therapy, meaning we’ll look at both present patterns and deeper roots. Together, we’ll build insight, strengthen coping skills, and help you develop a more supportive and realistic inner voice. Therapy with me is collaborative — we’ll reflect, challenge patterns, and even laugh when it fits. I am committed to providing affirming, culturally responsive care for diverse clients, including BIPOC, neurodiverse, and LGBTQ+ individuals. If you’re exploring identity, belonging, or navigating systems that weren’t built with you in mind, that work is welcome here. I aim to create a space where you can show up as you are — warm, supportive, and real (not drive-thru mental health care). I am currently an Associate Professional Counselor (APC), working toward full licensure under the guidance of Lauren Vaughan-D'Angelo, LPC, CPCS. I provide virtual therapy for clients across Georgia, with evening and weekend availability. My standard rate is $125, and I accept select insurance plans as well as self-pay. I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots to help keep therapy accessible and within reach. If you’re wondering whether we’re a good fit, I offer a free 15-minute phone “vibe check.”

Let’s be real — asking for help feels hard. We’ve been taught that being the “strong one” means doing it all alone. That needing support somehow makes us weak, messy, or not put-together enough. Whether it’s from family, culture, or social media… the pressure to look like you’ve got it all figured out is exhausting. But here’s the truth: asking for help is a power move. It means you’re self-aware enough to know when something's off — and brave enough to do something about it. Healing doesn’t make you broken. It makes you real. It makes you whole. As your therapist, I’m not here to “fix” you — I’m here to help you find yourself again. Together, we’ll unpack what’s been heavy, rewire some patterns, and create space for you to breathe, grow, and show up as her — the version of you that’s confident, grounded, emotionally free, and fully in her power. Struggling with anxiety or overthinking? Tired of toxic relationships or feeling like you’re never enough? Burning out trying to keep it all together? It’s time to choose you. Not the perfect version. Not the polished mask. The real you — in progress, healing, and glowing. Let’s do the inner work, set the boundaries, and walk in purpose. Because the goal isn’t perfection. It’s progress.
College can be exciting—but also overwhelming. You may be balancing pressure to perform, adjusting to independence, or quietly struggling with anxiety, loneliness, or burnout. I support college students who feel stretched thin, unsure of their path, or disconnected from who they truly are. In our work together, you’ll find a space to slow down, reflect, and invite God into the process. Whether you’re dealing with academic stress, people-pleasing, perfectionism, or emotional exhaustion, I’ll help you explore how faith, boundaries, and healthy coping can support your peace and growth. You don’t have to carry it all alone. Healing is possible when you have a safe space to be seen, heard, and restored—spiritually, emotionally, and mentally.

I firmly believe that the mind is the most important part of ourselves. It influences how we experience the world and how others experience and see us in our day to day lives. Just as is the case with any part of the body, there are times when this crucial part of who we are may “not work as well as it should” or be subject to illness due to circumstances that are often beyond our control. We face unprecedented challenges in the world today we owe it to ourselves to prioritize mental health. I work daily with my patients (both adults and children) on improving their mental health and well-being and building resilience to not only meet these challenges head on, but to thrive.

I am currently accepting new clients! Poor boundaries, putting others first, fear of outcomes, and lack of self-trust leads to people-pleasing, perfectionism, self-doubt, hurt feelings, resentment, poor self-esteem, unhealthy relationships, anxiety, depression, etc., ultimately is what leads people to therapy! Most people have not learned how to handle uncomfortable situations in healthy ways that feel comfortable specifically to them. Allow me to guide you with trusting yourself enough to choose you each time regardless of the outcome! When we put ourselves first, we will show up as our best selves! I specialize in a wide range of issues including depression/anxiety, coping with life transitions, communication in relationships, and parenting. I enjoy working with women, men, couples, and families with a myriad of challenges. I provide a supportive, culturally competent, judgment-free environment, specifically tailored to your individual needs. I incorporate a person-centered approach with interventions from, solution-focused, and cognitive-behavioral therapy. My clients love my down-to-earth personality which allows them to let their guard down, trust and share! We are all different for a reason and learning self-awareness is key to understanding and accepting, changing thoughts and behaviors.
