Therapists for college students near 30309
I have been in practice for over 20 years and enjoy working with graduate and undergraduate students. Many of my student clients have been interested in reducing anxiety or depression symptoms, working through family, friendship or relationship issues, or simply having a safe place to talk with someone outside of their support circle about a current transition or struggle.
You deserve to live a life with filled with connection, stability, and calm. Right now, you may feel lost or wonder what you can do to feel better, to thrive. With the right support and guidance, positive change is possible. My practice focuses on helping individuals and couples navigate relationship challenges and life transitions. I rely on evidence-based interventions, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance & commitment therapy, motivational interviewing and the Gottman Method. Currently, I am on the certification track to become a Gottman certified therapist. My goal in our work together, is to provide a supportive environment where you can address conflict, set boundaries, build resilience, and develop skills needed to establish and maintain a fulfilling life.

Beginning the process of therapy is a powerful step into understanding and developing the best self. I believe in a holistic approach to therapy. People are influenced by a variety of factors that influence their personal values and behaviors. It is incredibly important for me to honor a person where they are at. I collaborate with clients to work towards goals that are meaningful for them. I draw from a variety of frameworks and therapeutic treatment modalities. Traditional Cognitive Behavior Therapy is empirically sound and an effective theoretical approach I utilize. I also draw techniques from DBT, Person Centered Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Gestalt Therapy. I am EMDR trained and utilize this modality for those clients who have experienced acute and complex trauma. EMDR is also indicated for clients who have tried traditional therapy and feel "stuck". EMDR can help shift change as clients sort through negative memories tied to negative self beliefs. I have had the privilege of working with a variety of concerns. Many of my clients have struggled with adjustment, relationship issues, trauma, depression and anxiety.

Catherine (She/her) As a school social worker for 27 years, I worked with students PreK-12th grade and their families in school and the community. The last 10 years I focused more on the HS level with more personal issues that were affecting students' ability to focus on their classes. I got a reputation as someone who kept their secrets and helped them sort out who they are, esp. around issues of gender disphoria, sexual identity, and depression that frequently accompanies the struggle of self acceptance and showing ones' authentic self to others. College is a tough time for many people. If you think I can help you with this transition, please set up a video conference today. It's as confidential and encrypted as I'm capable to do.

Navigating life’s challenges doesn’t have to feel overwhelming or isolating. I work with teens, women, and families to provide a safe, affirming space where you can explore your emotions, build healthier relationships, and develop meaningful coping tools. Whether you're facing anxiety, life transitions, parenting stress, or family conflict, I meet you where you are—with empathy, curiosity, and compassion. My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and deeply person-centered. I believe therapy should feel like a conversation, not a clinical checklist. I specialize in helping clients untangle difficult emotions, improve communication, and reconnect with their strengths. If you're looking for a therapist who is approachable, thoughtful, and committed to making therapy a collaborative process, I’d be honored to support your journey.
