I am a strengths based, honest, caring therapist who is honored and glad to walk with you during the uncomfortable parts of this change process to help get you where you’d like to be.

We all have our reasons for seeking help. Maybe Depression or anxiety have weighed you down. You may be mourning a great loss. Or contemplaitng a major change in your life. Maybe you experience pain in your closest relationships. Or a conflict in your life seems to follow you wherever you go. Whatever your reason, therapy can help carve a path toward a more fulfilling life. We are changed, for better or worse, by every relationship in our lives. And my hope is that our relationship will bring about the healing you seek. My name is Zach Burck. I am a licensed mental health counselor. I provide individual therapy, both in person and virtually, to Indiana residents. I work in long-term depth therapy to go beyond coping and create lasting change. I use psychodynamic therapy to deepen understanding of the problems you face through exploration of your thoughts, feelings, fantasies, dreams, and relationships. This process can help you develop more self-awareness, heal old wounds, foster more intimate relationships, and live a more fulfilling life.
Let me be your guide to better understanding yourself and why you think, feel, and behave in the ways that you do. You know yourself better than anyone, but I can help you notice patterns that have been hidden or locked away. Whether experiencing anxiety, relationship concerns, or a low self-esteem, it is my hope to give you a soft space to land with genuine care and kindness. I’ve been a practitioner for 5 years specializing in anxiety, attachment wounds, inner child work, and sex & sexuality. I work with lots of different populations, but mostly work with femmes, trans and nonbinary folks, and the LGBTQ+ community. My goal as your therapist is for you to get to know yourself and others in a more attuned, empathetic, and compassionate way. In my personal time I love to read (expect a lot of book recommendations) and occasionally crochet. I love a good cup of coffee, practicing yoga, and connecting with the earth and nature through native gardening and hiking.
As a former high school teacher, I have helped adolescents as they transition into adulthood. Now as a therapist, I enjoy working with individuals and couples through transitions of all kinds. I can help navigate the big life changes adolescents face, issues within family dynamics (family and marital issues), and issues that come with career changes and aging. I am an excellent resource for those suffering with anxiety, depression and BPD, especially those newly diagnosed with BPD. I am here to listen non-judgmentally and cheerlead you in your progress and growth while providing you skills and tools to get there. I use a skill-based approach to help clients learn and grow in their emotional wellness. I also incorporate a lot of mindfulness as clients learn to name and express their emotions. Finally, I love exploring spirituality (regardless of belief system) and incorporating this into treatment. Above all, I am here to listen. Sometimes we simply need someone who is in our corner and I hope to be that for you. I am queer-affirming and available to new clients, both in-person and virtually. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or to get scheduled.
Located near 96th St and Keystone Avenue on the north side of Indianapolis, my quiet, private office provides a comfortable, confidential, and supportive environment where you can share about yourself and your experiences. Since completing my Master's in 2008, I have worked in mental health and addictions with a wide range of clients. I use different approaches based on what works best for you, including CBT, relapse prevention, LGBT affirmative therapy, and I am EMDR certified by EMDRIA.
My approach to therapy comes from a space of empathy, compassion, and absolutely zero judgement. My goal for every individual is to help them experience a positive change. I utilize a strengths based approach to encourage my clients to tap into their own strengths and resources while also meeting them where they are at in their personal therapeutic journey. I became interested in therapy due to my own personal struggles with addiction and with 11 years of sobriety, I hope to help others. My goal is for my clients to get something out of the work we do together and for it to be worthwhile and beneficial for them. I work alongside my clients to help them reach their goals while appreciating and celebrating their strengths. I have a laid back approach which includes colorful language, an odd sense of humor, and finding a balance to push you outside of your comfort zone to accomplish your goals. I hope to create a safe space for my clients to be themselves and for me to help them process life's tough challenges and celebrate the victories.

My undergraduate focus was in math and science. However, through the years I decided that relationships were more important and realized that most individuals don't have the tools to form good marriage, family, and friendship connections. Much of this is the result of poor parenting that leaves an individual fearful, without confidence, and having no idea how to navigate life's challenges. Children are precious and deserve to feel loved and secure. This is difficult if their parents weren't nurtured and shown how (primarily by example) to have a loving marriage. We deserve love in marriage, and our children need that example. My graduate studies at the University of Southern California were in sociology (sex and gender focus) and marriage and family therapy. I have years of experience in parenting, responding to domestic violence, treating pornography addiction, and helping clients who are depressed and/or anxious.
