Hello! My name is Caroline and I am a Boston-based Registered Dietitian passionate about helping you prioritize your relationship with food. After earning my degree in Nutritional Sciences from Boston University, I went on to complete my supervised practice training through Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a Harvard Teaching Hospital in Boston, MA. The rigorous nature of this clinical internship, paired with my experience working in all levels of eating disorder treatment, gives me the experience needed to care for a wide range of populations. Whether you have been diagnosed with an eating disorder or your intuition simply tells you your relationship with food/your body is dysregulated, I can help you reclaim your trust in yourself. I take an evidenced-based, HAES-informed, non-diet approach to help you cultivate a nourishing and normalized eating pattern that suits your individual needs. My goal is to build your confidence in making nutrition decisions for a full life!

I am a LICSW working in Higher Education leveraging 6 years of clinical experience with adolescents and young adults. Whether it is a need to vent, case management, or individual therapy, you have found the right person to support you through whatever barrier it is that is blocking you from your fullest potential.
The therapy session is a time and space one sets aside to focus on self. To be with self. And to build one’s self. It can be challenging to reflect on patterns, thoughts and emotions, relationships, past events and/or change, but it can also be transformative and rewarding. My role as your therapist is to witness your process and to reflect back with you along the way. The therapeutic relationship is an essential piece of my practice and is built on honesty, trust, empathy, and compassion. In conjunction with traditional psychotherapeutic frameworks (CBT, DBT, Gestalt, Psychodynamic), I use Expressive Arts Therapy (Movement, Drama, Music/Sound, Art) to help foster a creative process. When applied therapeutically, a creative process can help a person heal, open up to change, and may offer new feelings, thoughts, insights, and perspectives As a Dance/Movement Therapist, I specialize in using movement as a tool to identify, explore, and shift the way one relates to self, other, and the world around. I believe engaging in an integrative, body based psychotherapy process is a direct and effective path to embodied growth and transformation.
At BNBA, clients can expect an accurate diagnosis, followed by an integrative treatment plan that is tailored for their unique needs. We understand every patient has a different story that brought them to seek our care. As such, treatment plans are entirely individualized for each patient allowing them to experience optimal care. Hi, I'm Dr. Vlahakes and I'm happy to offer both individual and group counseling/therapy sessions! At this time I do have availability for new clients. Please use the contact information on this page to get started. FYI I'm part of a group practice called Brighter Life Therapy.
I have been in private practice in the Boston/Cambridge area for 30 years working with adults and adolescents, couples and families. I work with clients utilizing a trauma informed lens as well as elements of liberation psychology and relational cultural theory. I feel all clinical work must begin with a thorough understanding of a client's multiple identities and how those identities interact within their communities and the larger culture. My work and my passion are embedded in a deep committment to social justice. I specialize in multicultural treatment, identity development, trauma, depression, anxiety, work issues, life transitions, parenting issues, adoption, fertility issues, gender issues and sexuality. I serve as the Director of the Brandeis Counseling Center at Brandeis University and in that role help students and faculty navigate academia. I see clients in my office at 1105 Mass Ave in Cambridge which is a 5-10 min walk from the Harvard T stop. I also offer off street parking on Remington Street across from 1105 Mass Ave. My hours are 6am-8am Mon-Fri, Thurs 5pm-10pm and Sat 7am-3pm.
Hi, thanks so much for taking an interest in my practice. It takes great courage and awareness to come to the decision to reach out for support. I see clients in my office in Cambridge, MA, near Davis Square, and in Melrose, MA, as well as by teletherapy/videochat. I specialize in helping people to free themselves from the 'silent conversation' that we have with ourselves throughout the day. By understanding how this conversation influences our thoughts, feelings, and actions, it is possible to adapt it to feel more empowered in life. It is my hope that your therapy experience will feel comforting, meaningful, real, and effective in getting to the heart of your core concerns. I work from an integrative framework in a warm and interactive environment, drawing from holistic, cognitive, and psychodynamic influences to help people to reclaim a sense of choice and authorship in their lives. My background includes more than 25 years in clinical healthcare, school, and community settings working therapeutically with individuals, couples, and groups on a wide-range of issues causing acute and chronic distress. Wherever you may be at in your journey, I look forward to joining you on your path towards greater mental and emotional well-being. I create a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore your thoughts and feelings, and prioritize understanding things from your viewpoint. My main goal is to empower you as we collaborate to examine the impact of your experiences and stressors from new perspectives, to help you heal, and grow. I work with adults to address issues related to chronic pain, substance use, relationship difficulties, anxiety, and depression. Offering telehealth sessions! I believe we are all naturally inclined toward personal growth and success—each of us with our own strengths, desires, and goals that would lead us in the direction of contentment and happiness under optimal conditions. Problems arise because we don’t live in a perfect world, and in an effort to adapt, we sometimes develop strategies that make sense in the short term, but are not effective in moving us forward. We “get stuck,” leading to anxiety, frustration, and conflict, which leads in turn to us feeling bad about ourselves and our relationships. I view therapy as a collaboration between me and my clients, where we work together to understand the root causes of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that get in the way of resolving problems. Together, we will clarify your goals, uncover and capitalize on existing strengths, and develop new ways of working through difficulties. My style, which is both directive and supportive, honest and compassionate, works to build the trusting relationship that will be key to our work together. My approach is integrative, eclectic, and flexible: we'll start wherever you are and go from there. The first step is the hardest, but you're not alone in the journey. Give me a call and we'll get you on your way!
