Navigating the complex dynamics of college life can be challenging, and I am dedicated to supporting you through these pivotal years. I understand the pressures of academic performance, the intricacies of relationships, the stress of athletic commitments (as a former Division I athlete, myself!), and the overwhelming transitions that come with this phase of life. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, or simply need guidance in managing college dynamics, I am here to help. I offer personalized, compassionate care to ensure you thrive both academically and personally, helping you achieve a balanced and fulfilling college experience.
I work with students who are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, burned out, or struggling to keep up with school, work, and personal responsibilities. Many of the people I see are dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, or the stress of major life transitions. Some are high achievers who feel constant pressure to perform, while others feel stuck, unmotivated, or unsure about their direction. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone, and support is available. I offer a collaborative, nonjudgmental space where we can work together to help you feel more balanced, focused, and confident. Reach out to schedule a consultation and see if we’re a good fit.

Do you find yourself overcome with anxiety, stress, or intrusive thoughts? You may feel stuck in your own head, think negative "what-if" thoughts, or replay social situations in your mind, critiquing what you said and overanalyzing how everyone else responded. Are you ready to make a change? If so, allow me to guide you in shifting your mind from being your arch enemy to your powerful ally. My clients and I work together as a team. We will talk about the negative thinking patterns affecting you the most, and strategies to change them so that you can breathe a sigh of relief as you feel their grip on you loosen. My clients learn new ways of approaching their thoughts, and techniques to calm their minds for immediate and long-term relief. Our experiences in this world, often based on identities or trauma, can leave us feeling stressed and uncertain. It's confusing to have your worries get in the way of making the connections with people that you long for; or to be so convinced you will fail that it's hard to take the first step in doing the next thing you want to do; or to be suddenly totally overwhelmed in the middle of this exciting new experience you'd been waiting for. Sometimes people need some help slowing down, reconnecting with themselves, and finding new ways to respond so that they can move forward with hope, self-compassion, and empowerment. I have spent many years working in college mental health, helping students from all identities and backgrounds navigate the growth and challenge of the college experience. My approach is collaborative. Together we figure out what's getting in the way for you. I'll be with you in the hard moments, naming and exploring your thoughts, feelings, and experiences so that you can find ways to respond to them that are helpful. Increased connection with your body is key. Let's also celebrate the wins, big and small, along the way. Finding a therapist that is a good fit is so important—if you're not comfortable enough to tell your therapist what's really going on, therapy won't work. Let's find a time to connect to see if I would be a good fit for you in your next step.

I am a Harvard-trained physician who practiced Neurology for 25 years before completing a post-graduate psychotherapy fellowship to allow me to help others in a different way. This major life change informs my work as a psychotherapist. No matter where along our life’s path we find ourselves, and no matter how distressed, stuck or trapped we feel, we can always come to know ourselves more fully and to make changes in the service of a more satisfying, meaningful and fulfilling life. I practice a flexible style of psychotherapy tailored to each unique person or couple. Some prefer a shorter-term, more active therapy that focuses on making changes in the here and now. Others benefit from a longer-term, more self-directed exploration in a safe and supportive environment. Although my focus is on helping people meet their goals through therapy, I offer the option to prescribe adjunctive medication when needed. My aim is always to understand each person’s unique life experiences, beliefs, values and goals and to work with each person to promote enhanced self-understanding and freedom of choice in the service of a life that feels satisfying and meaningful. When working with a couple, my aim is to help the couple work through current relationship difficulties and, if both partners are invested in maintaining the relationship, to help them create a partnership where each feels safe, secure, valued and cared for.
