I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina practicing for almost 20 years. Serving the mental health needs of all community members is very important to me and the reason why I have become a strong advocate for equitable care for everyone. I have worked in various mental health settings through the years, primarily serving individuals who have experienced trauma, adversity, grief, depression, and anxiety. My compassion for people, years of working in demanding environments, and close connections to the military have allowed me to easily make connections and support others in their journey. I'm a therapist with Octave and Evernorth Behavioral Care Group. Octave is a mental health practice providing high-quality care covered by multiple insurances. Evernorth Behavioral Care Group is a behavioral health provider group in-network with Cigna Healthcare and Evernorth. For my availability, please reach out to Octave’s team by emailing or calling.

I offer individual, partners/couples (including polyamorous partners), and family counseling, in addition to letter of support services for gender transition, for anyone age 13+. My primary focus areas are exploring & supporting identity development (racial identities, LGBTQ+ identities, etc), developing healthy relationships, improving communication, processing trauma, understanding family dynamics, & resolving conflicts. I am open to working with anyone who thinks they would be a good fit, but in general, I tend to be process-oriented, often focusing on how different dynamics impact clients’ experiences. I most value building trusting relationships with my clients and strive to offer a nonjudgemental listening space. I believe that clients have the right, and the ability, to make the best decisions for themselves.

As a Licensed School Counselor and Clinical Mental Health Counselor, I know each of us face challenges, life transitions, and pain. The bulk of my work is dedicated to helping clients with anxiety, depression, life transitions, and interpersonal challenges. Additionally, I have a passion for working with clients who are academically gifted or twice exceptional! I work with clients to bring meaning and understanding to how their thoughts, beliefs and life experiences impact their actions and related outcomes. I draw on Cognitive Behavioral Theory, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Exposure Response Prevention principles and interventions to encourage insight and behavioral change. I know seeking therapy and finding a therapist is a risk that feels scary to many. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). My clinical experience encompasses working at multiple university counseling centers. There, I have supported students and postdocs of various ages (young adults to those in middle adulthood) through therapy. Whether you are navigating challenging life adjustments, the transition to college, anxiety, relationship concerns, concerns related to racial identity, grief, academic or career stress, or other concerns, there is hope for healing and growth. When it comes to therapy, I seek to empower clients to recognize their capabilities and move toward beneficial change. Through warmth, encouragement, and compassion, I aim to build a collaborative relationship with clients and create a safe, nonjudgmental space. I seek to meet each client's individual needs, believing there is no "one-size-fits-all” approach to treatment. To do this, I draw techniques from different modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindful self-compassion (MSC), interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT), and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT). If you are ready to take the next step and see if we are a good fit, I invite you to reach out.
