College can be an amazing time full of new experiences, but let’s be real—it can also feel stressful and overwhelming. I love working with young adults who are figuring out the ups and downs of campus life. Whether you're dealing with roommate drama, trying to balance work and fun, or adjusting to being more independent, sometimes it helps to talk to someone who gets it and can help you work through the tough stuff. If this sounds like something you’d find helpful, feel free to reach out—I’d love to connect and support you through this exciting but challenging time.

I am a New York state licensed psychologist with over 30 years of experience providing social, emotional and academic support to students. I currently specialize in working with college students who struggle with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression and life transitions as well as academic, social and relationship issues. I have extensive experience working with student-athletes helping to support their emotional well-being and promote positive athletic performance. I provide a supportive therapeutic environment in which I work together with students to "connect the dots" between experiences, thoughts and behavior. I create a warm, comfortable environment for students that is collaborative, practical and solution-focused and one that focuses on helping students increase self awareness, identify needs and set goals. My therapeutic style is based on cognitive behavioral therapy and integrates a variety of humanistic and strength-based modalities including mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy. My goal is to help clients better understand their thoughts, feelings and behaviors to promote positive change in their lives. If you are interested in working with me, please email me at elizabethgreenphd@gmail.com to schedule a free 15 minute phone consultation. I accept several insurance plans and am happy to provide a super bill to out-of-network clients.

I am a New York state licensed clinical psychologist, supervisor, and doctoral professor. I work with individual adults and couples experiencing distress due to fluctuations in mood, changing life circumstances, difficult relationships, and uncertain identity. Given my own multicultural identity, I approach every patient with compassion and curiosity for their experiences, encouraging those I work with to practice the same. I find that the most successful therapy is a result of healthy collaboration, trust, and creating a safe space to do the work. Let’s do this.

Please feel free to check out my Introduction Video at https://youtu.be/ytYmG-2v4c4 to learn more about me as practitioner and person. Clients often come to therapy, initially, with symptoms of anxiety, significant stress, exhaustion, depression, anger, etc. I am here to listen while the Client talks through current and past issues that have led to the onset of these symptoms. The goal is 1) for me to provide education (about symptoms, causes, coping tools, wellness, communication, etc.), and 2) for the client to discover the answers they have inside of themselves and develop confidence in ones' self. I offer compassion and respect to all clients. Often, my clients are struggling with worries, anxiety and/or low confidence. I provide a space to speak through sensitive topics.

I’m a good fit for students who get trapped in their head—overthinking everything, replaying conversations, second-guessing decisions, or feeling like they can’t relax unless everything is “handled.” You might be high-achieving, but constantly stressed, exhausted, or scared of messing up. Sometimes that turns into procrastination, avoidance, or feeling numb. In therapy, we’ll focus on helping you calm the mental noise, handle stress more effectively, and build confidence in your choices—so school and life don’t feel like a constant emergency.

I work from a trauma-informed perspective, and the foundation of my work is grounded in talk therapy, CBT, and ACT. I offer holistic and complementary interventions that will support your overall well-being. Our work can be supported by incorporating somatic practices, when appropriate for you. Our relationship is central to this work and I hold a safe, non-judgmental, and present-moment space for you. I encourage you to let your guard down, and speak from your most authentic self, and I will do the same, so we can truly connect. My main areas of focus are in personal growth and optimal well-being, spirituality in terms of your search to answer those deeper, more meaningful questions in life, and helping you heal from relational wounds such as childhood neglect, psychological abuse, attachment wounds, and relationship conflict. I believe that anxiety, depression, self-criticism, stress, and some physical symptoms are the result of negative relationship experiences. The stories from our past can color our present moment in ways that no longer serve us. In our work together, I will support you as you learn to build trust in yourself, and in others. I know there is a brighter future for you, one that nourishes your soul and where peace comes naturally. I want to help you find it!

We all can struggle with life transitions, among those are entering college and graduating. We also want a thriving life but can struggle with depressive thoughts, anxious thinking, grief or finding a sense of purpose. I aim to work with you to identify what gets in the way of a more fulfilling life and then to work together to figure out ways to better relate to difficult internal thoughts and feelings and external circumstances. I'm a collaborative therapist who knows that you are the expert when it comes ... to you. I want to serve as a guide. I like to have a bit of a sense of humor and encourage with an emphasis on finding your strengths and what matters most to you.
