Therapists for college students near New York, NY
College can be fun and extremely challenging at the same time. It is a major step in your life and it comes with many new life transitions and independence! Many students I work with experience anxiety, stress, and feelings of overwhelm as they navigate academic pressures, social changes, and personal development. They may also struggle with issues related to self-esteem, identity, and relationships. Students often benefit from a supportive and understanding environment where they can explore their feelings, develop coping strategies, and build resilience. My approach focuses on helping students gain clarity, build confidence, and create a balanced and fulfilling college experience. By addressing their specific needs and experiences, I aim to empower students to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
Life is full of transitional moments; changes that impact how we think, how we function, and how we connect to the world. Let us work together to build a positive connection between how you feel, where you are, and where you see yourself. Short-term, goal-oriented therapy is available. Or, perhaps you would prefer to delve deeper into the who, the why, and the how of things. With either modality, you can expect to be met with respect, compassion, and cultural sensitivity.

Hello! I am a clinical psychologist who specializes in working with young adults, LGBTQ+ people (especially trans and non-binary), trauma, and emotional instability. My clients often come from backgrounds where they feel misunderstood and invalidated. They sometimes feel frustrated with their important relationships, or like they're stuck on an emotional roller coaster, or like they have trouble relaxing and feeling safe. In therapy, I create an accepting, non-judgmental environment where my clients can feel truly seen. From there, I help clients understand themselves, what they want to change in their lives, and how to reach their goals. I completed my training at college counseling centers and a hospital program serving college students. I know the challenges college students face, and I love helping students overcome those challenges. If you think we might be a good fit for therapy, please reach out! I offer free 15 minute consultation calls for anyone interested. I am currently offering therapy in person in Berkeley, CA on Saturdays and over Zoom Tuesday-Saturday in California, New York, and Virginia.

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with five years of experience, my work centers on helping adults navigate anxiety, relationship dynamics, and complex trauma so they can break old cycles, establish healthy boundaries, and reclaim control of their lives. While I have a particular passion for supporting BIPOC individuals and communities, I welcome and celebrate patients of all backgrounds. Anxiety and the weight of difficult relationships can make it hard to see a way forward. Together, we'll work to change that. I believe in the power of collaboration, allowing me to be your active, supportive partner in this process to help you cultivate a stronger sense of peace, self-awareness, and confidence in the life you want to build. Tailoring therapy to the unique individual rather than fitting anyone into a rigid structure is something I feel strongly about, because your healing should reflect who you are, not a one-size-fits-all model. That’s why my approach is eclectic, collaborative, and person-centered from the very beginning. You can always expect a warm, empathetic, and genuinely supportive environment in our sessions. Using humanistic and integrative methods, I work to ensure you feel deeply heard and empowered to make lasting changes. Your unique presenting concerns shape how we work together, and I adapt my style with that in mind every step of the way. Every person who walks through my door deserves a space that feels safe and welcoming, a place to pause, reflect, and explore your thoughts and emotions as you navigate life's ups and downs. Having personally navigated anxiety and depression, I understand in a real and meaningful way what it takes to find balance, resilience, and healing. This lived experience fuels the depth of care and compassion I bring to every session. My Jamaican background further enriches the care I offer, allowing me to connect with Caribbean patients and others from diverse cultural backgrounds in ways that are sensitive, affirming, and grounded in an understanding of your unique story. Movement and nourishment are big parts of how I stay grounded. Whether I'm at Pilates, the gym, discovering a new restaurant, or planning the next trip on my list, I'm most at home when I'm exploring and savoring what life has to offer.

Hi there! I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) specializing in the evaluation and treatment of anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, trauma-related disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, insomnia, and other common mental health concerns for patients across the lifespan. Building trusting, collaborative relationships is central to my practice, as I believe the best outcomes come from working together to create treatment plans that align with each person's goals. Patients are encouraged to be active advocates for their own mental health, while also knowing they have a dedicated partner supporting them in achieving recovery, maintaining stability, and improving their overall well-being. Everyone deserves compassionate, evidence-based mental health care personalized to their unique needs and goals. My role is to be a supportive, collaborative partner who will listen without judgment, celebrate your progress, and help you navigate challenges along the way. Whether you're seeking help for the first time, managing an acute concern, or working to maintain the stability you've achieved, we'll create a plan together that fits your life and empowers you to take an active role in your care. I look forward to helping you build resilience, strengthen your confidence, and work toward lasting mental wellness one day at a time, bringing empathy, collaboration, and a whole-person perspective to every visit so you feel supported, understood, and empowered. Mental health care, in my view, is not only about treating symptoms but also about developing the skills and support needed to manage daily stressors, which are a natural part of life. This means helping patients feel prepared and empowered to navigate challenges without letting them become overwhelming or destabilizing. I am passionate about providing comprehensive care that meets people where they are, whether that includes medication management, psychotherapy, or an integrated combination of both to support long-term mental health and well-being. My approach to care spans the full spectrum of psychiatric acuity, from navigating more acute mental health challenges to maintaining stability and preventing relapse after achieving wellness. Understanding each person's unique experiences, goals, and needs comes first, which I achieve by bringing a compassionate, and individualized approach to every relationship. You can expect a kind, supportive, and collaborative environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered as we work together. This approach is also encouraging, offering gentle guidance and honest feedback when needed to support meaningful growth. Lasting change happens through partnership, and you are encouraged to take an active role in your own mental health journey. I understand that making these changes can feel challenging, so my goal is to meet you where you are while helping you build confidence, develop effective coping strategies, and move toward greater stability and independence. Every treatment plan is tailored to your unique needs, experiences, and goals, so it feels both realistic and achievable. I began my career in a hospital-based outpatient clinic, where I worked with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and varying levels of psychiatric acuity, along with six-and-a-half years as a registered nurse in pediatric critical care and pediatric neurology/neurosurgery. Caring for children and supporting families through some of life's most difficult moments showed me how deeply mental and physical health are connected, and how essential accessible, competent, individualized, and compassionate mental health care is to overall well-being. These experiences inspired me to pursue psychiatry and continue caring for people in a different way. Today, I have the privilege of working with patients across the lifespan, and I truly enjoy helping individuals at every stage of life navigate unique challenges. I love cooking, hanging with family and friends, and spending time in the garden. I'm also a devoted New York Rangers hockey fan!
