I'm a zen practicing therapist+musician who loves working with people on their journeys to healthier relationships and becoming their most authentic selves. I was raised fundamentalist and spent my childhood learning fire and brimstone theology and memorizing verses from the King James Bible. Needless to say I chose to leave the "sinners in the hands of an angry God" mentality behind when I grew up. The truth is, being hard on ourselves doesn't help us or anyone else. But compassion, love, acceptance and presence connect us to who we really are, and who we can become. Along the journey, I've played a lot of music (with friends, in bands) and become a therapist. I wrote an album while in grad school and took a year off after grad school to play shows and work at a record store. I believe it's OK to have multiple passions, to want to do a lot of things, to use your voice, and to take your time figuring it all out. In our work together, I want to help you tap into your own creativity and inner wisdom while also drawing from evidence-based modalities to help you live a purposeful life, deepen your relationships, and reach your goals as a couple or as an individual. LGBTQI affirming. Puedo hablar contigo un poco de español, pero no puedo hablar con fluencia.

I believe finding the right therapist is a major part of successful therapy. I love to work with individuals and couples in a solution focused way where I can support them as well as provide feedback and tools to help navigate towards each person's personal goals. I love to engage with people during sessions and to make sure that they feel comfortable being their authentic selves without any reservations or fear of judgement. I have a wide range of experience in a variety of mental health concerns and especially love working with people managing the stressors of any relationships, dating, marriage, anxiety, life changes and life adjustments. I want to make sure that anyone who sees me feels they are benefiting from therapy and working towards a better quality of life.

In your sessions I offer a safe space and a supportive, non-judgmental, and compassionate approach. You are in the driver’s seat. I’ve got the roadmap and I am ready to help you navigate your goals and guide you on your journey…the winding roads, the forks that unexpectedly spring up, the boulders that feel so heavy, and also celebrate the roads with smooth paths where you have the window down, feel the wind in your hair, and the smell of hope in the breeze. So get in the car (or hop on Zoom!), we’re going on a life trip! Throughout my career I have assisted individuals in their journeys with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, executive functioning skills, life transitions, relationships, and caregiving across the lifespan. Let’s do this. I believe in you and I can’t wait to start working with you. I specialize in (but not limited to) working with individuals with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities, individuals with physical and acquired disabilities, individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis, as well as young adults navigating life transitions, college, and the overwhelming journey of “adulting.”

I love working with people to understand their own patterns of thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships. All of these patterns have a root cause, and have served you in some way at some time—even if they are now proving to be unhelpful or harmful. In our work together, we will come to better understand the problems you face, develop a plan to make a change, and then put that plan into action. I specialize in working with teens and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma, BPD, ADHD, patterns of difficulty regulating emotions, and pervasive isolation/interpersonal conflict. I have extensive experience in behavioral modalities such as CBT and DBT, as well psychodynamic and trauma-focused therapy. My approach balances acceptance and validation of the challenges that may bring you to treatment, with the simultaneous need for change. I will pull from various types of therapy, depending on what is most appropriate for you. Our work together will be collaborative and iterative, while also structured and purposeful. Regardless of your particular reasons for seeking a therapist at this time, I will always prioritize your personal goals, identity and values—some of which may very well evolve over time. I hope to connect soon if you feel we may be a good match!

Natalia is the Associate Director of the Counseling Service at Vassar College, where she counsels students from diverse racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds. In addition, at Vassar, she trains the next generation of psychotherapists as a senior supervisor to MSW students and Post-Doctoral Candidates. I offer the ability to engage conversation regarding anything from test anxiety to the meaning of life. I love working with the college population because they are just finding out who they are and are always thinking critically about themselves and where their talents and abilities fit into this chaotic world. I can help provide guidance to discover what is preventing you from reaching your full potential in both an emotional and intellectual way.

Sometimes we all need a little help. No one has life all figured out. We are all a work in progress. That is especially true of young adults transitioning from high school into college, or from college into the working world. Relationships with parents are changing, romantic relationships may begin or end, friendships change, and we may grow apart from people who we thought we'd be friends with forever. These are challenging times to be alive, and sometimes it's helpful to talk about what you're going through with an objective third party, a therapist, someone to validate your feelings and give honest feedback in a kind, gentle manner. I help my patients learn healthy coping skills and try different strategies to deal with whatever mental health challenges they are facing. With 18 years experience, I'm sure I can find some strategies that will help you too. Please feel free to reach out when you are ready!

Do you worry a lot, feel stressed, or overwhelmed all the time? Do you experience recurring unpleasant thoughts that impact your perception of the world or yourself? It might be exhausting to have a head full of racing ideas, but via therapy, we can try to free up some mental space. As a therapist, I have had the honor of helping patients who have a wide range of issues, such as stress, anxiety, and low self-esteem. I'm passionate about assisting people in overcoming the obstacles preventing them from engaging in more constructive self-talk, having a calmer mind, and living their best life. Psychotherapy can significantly improve your mental well-being. I specialize in treating various mental health issues. I meet clients where they are and begin the journey from there. I also utilize an integrative approach as fit. Reaching out for help can be difficult, but know that you're on the right path. Let us work together to bring balance and enjoyment back into your life.

You are the expert of your own experience and know best what supports you and what may no longer be serving you. In our work together, I will seek to highlight and validate how the social environment and systems have impacted your relationship with yourself and others, and to use the therapy space as an opportunity to dismantle hierarchies. To do this, I use an integrated, person-centered psychodynamic approach grounded in compassion. This includes using concepts from Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatics, mindfulness and analysis. I identify as queer and will bring a queer lens to our work together by asking how you have constructed meaning of your world, by recognizing your strengths and by supporting you in developing new insight. I am a Licensed Master of Social Work, an artist and an educator. I have experience working with people in creative fields, navigating their gender and sexual identities, anxiety, depression, life and career transitions and higher education.
