Hello! I specialize in working with adults at any stage in life struggling with ADHD, anxiety and depression. University life can understandably be stressful, whether its having to adjust your routines, habits, and coping skills to new life experiences, adjusting to a new diagnosis, or planning for the future. Whether in an undergraduate, graduate, or PHD program, students often feel they benefit from support while navigating life changes and experiences. I have worked with students on various goals, many of which who are looking to develop healthy habits, navigate social relationships, overcome procrastination, manage low energy and motivation, deal with difficulty focusing, paying attention, perfectionism, and managing distractions, among many others. Clients come to me looking for a therapist who understand the unique challenges and experiences that come from living with ADHD and how it coexists with other mental health symptoms, because therapy should be a place where you feel understood and supported in being yourself and living a life that works for you. Sessions with me are collaborative and strengths based to support your personal goals. I offer a free 15 minute consultation appointment to see if we would be a good fit in working together to meet your therapy goals. I look forward to hearing from you!

I’m a licensed psychologist and have worked with college-age young adults for many years. I have a youthful energy and I believe in being a good and supportive listener. I utilize evidence-based cognitive-behavioral and acceptance and commitment therapy interventions to help young adults create and apply effective action plans in their life. I’m not interested in helping young adults merely admire their problems, is this usually results in remaining stuck. Instead, I work collaboratively to identify promising interventions to move our life forward towards desired goals. This, I find, is the only way for a person to build genuine confidence.

As a trauma-informed psychotherapist, I have repeatedly seen the benefits of targeting trauma directly in a consistent way. Supported by research, dealing with the most distressing incident(s) can more efficiently help you become more present in your life, enjoy things you had before, and create a future you want. My approach is supportive and goal-oriented, and I am here to help you in this journey. I focus on individual treatment. I enact treatments of Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), and Written Exposure Therapy (WET). I also use Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Relationships (STAIR) to address trauma-related symptoms without targeting trauma. The goal of my practice is to strengthen individuals to help them create long-lasting positive effects in their lives.

My name is Amy Read and I am an Adult & Geriatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. I have specialized my interests in health & wellness after years of struggling with my own symptoms ... symptoms of pain, brain fog, IBS, difficulty with focus, inability to concentration, a very forgetful memory, and so many more. Like so many other suffering I feared the worse, I believed I must have early onset dementia or even cancer. Luckily, I was cleared of anything life threating, but I was told nothing could be done to make me feel better. I realized that I had to find a way to change the outcome, because I was not going to let my life slip by. Because of my personal challenges, I found functional medicine. I found a way to "cure" myself and reclaim my life. It was hard. It took a lot of time. It took work. It took family support. Now I am able to live again and I have many roles and titles, the best of which is being a mother to 6 beautiful children. I love the sun and the beach, if I have a day off that's where you'll find me! The water is mesmerizing and the sun enlightens my soul! I am now a functional medicine practitioner nurse practitioner and bring over 25 years of experience into my practice. Functional medicine has saved my life and become my passion for helping others. My own triumphs and trials with depression, anxiety, ADHD, food sensitivities and fibromyalgia allow me to have a deep understanding of what my clients are going through and what they need to have in order to achieve the life of their dreams. Through my programs, clients who are committed and ready for change, are able to obtain optimal health and wellness.

You can be surrounded by people and still feel completely alone. Maybe you grew up keeping the peace, managing everyone else's emotions, or shrinking yourself to avoid conflict and now those same patterns are running your life. You overthink, people-please, and constantly second-guess yourself. You're self-aware enough to know something isn't working, but awareness alone hasn't changed it. These patterns have roots. Family wounds, early trauma, painful relationships that taught you it wasn't safe to just be yourself. If you're a young adult finally ready to discover who you actually are and you're in the right place. Using EMDR and a person-centered, strengths-based approach, I help you understand why you overthink, shut down, or people-please — and how your past is driving those patterns. Together we work to reduce anxiety, build self-trust, and help you finally feel comfortable in your own skin and clear in who you are. You've probably been trying to figure this out on your own for a long time. These patterns have deeper roots, and they don't have to keep running the show. If you're ready to stop going through the motions and start building a life that actually feels like yours, I'd love to hear from you.

Welcome! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with adults navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma, particularly experiences related to family of origin and attachment. While I work with adults of all ages, I have a special interest in supporting emerging adults - including college, graduate, and medical students - as they manage the emotional and relational challenges that can arise during these stages of life. I support clients in addressing current life challenges while also seeking to answer questions about why these challenges exist in the first place. I do this through a collaborative, relational, and trauma-informed approach that blends deeper insight with practical support. Drawing from psychodynamic and attachment-based work, along with CBT, DBT, and mindfulness, I help clients understand patterns, regulate emotions, and build skills that support meaningful, lasting change. Starting therapy can feel uncertain, and it’s completely normal to have questions or mixed emotions. Please know you don’t have to figure it out on your own. I aim to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and understood. If you’re considering therapy, I invite you to reach out to see if we would be a good fit.

One of my favorite things a patient has said to me is - “Thank you for being part of my journey”. That’s what life is to me – a journey we are all on together. What I want for everyone is that they can overcome any barriers they may have so that they can become their whole selves and live life to its fullest. I work with many kinds of people from all walks of life on issues like neurodiversity, autism, anxiety, ADHD, family history, relationships, and couples’ concerns. I also have expertise working with college students, international students, young adults, and couples after working and training at the University of Rochester counseling center. I have done training specifically to provide therapy through an anti-racist lens and continue to reflect on my own whiteness. I use a mixed relational approach pulling from person centered therapy, existential therapy, DBT and more. I am committed to providing a safe, sex positive, non-judgmental space for trust and growth to happen. Are you looking for change? College is a time of real growth — and real pressure. For many students, it's also when questions about identity, mental health, and how they move through the world come into sharper focus. I work with college students who are navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, identity exploration, trauma history, or the particular exhaustion that comes with being neurodivergent in demanding academic environments. Many of the young adults I work with are autistic, ADHD, or both — and are often doing so without the scaffolding that got them through high school. Others are transgender or gender-diverse, and are figuring out who they are while managing minority stress, family dynamics, and systems that don't always make things easy. My approach is relational and collaborative. I don't follow a rigid protocol — I draw from ACT, DBT, and CBT, and I tailor what we do to who you are and what you actually need. Sessions are a place to build insight, develop real skills, and figure out how to live more fully as yourself. I'm a licensed clinical psychologist with advanced training in gender-diverse care, trauma, and neurodevelopment. Before opening my practice, I spent two years at Yale's Pediatric Gender Program and completed my doctoral internship at Yale School of Medicine. I keep my caseload focused so I can do this work with the depth it deserves. Sessions are available via telehealth across Connecticut and New York, and in person in Southington, CT — which may be convenient for students at nearby colleges and universities. I also see adolescents and teens, so referrals for younger clients are welcome. I'm happy to connect with counseling center staff to discuss fit, coordination of care, or consultation. The best way to reach me is through my website or by phone.
