Going to college may feel like it is supposed to be one of the most exciting times in your life. Leaving home, starting an independent life and creating connections with people from all over the world sounds great, right? But, it is also one of the more challenging times in life from a developmental stance. Family relations feel different, making friends can be challenging in a larger setting, academics are rigorous and there is a struggle to know who you 'really are.' On top of that, differences between you and others on identity dimensions can have you re-examining where you fit into the larger world around you. I am here to help guide you through this time so that you can work through unpleasant feelings while simultaneously feeling more confident in the person you are becoming and wish to be.
Are you struggling with anxiety? Feeling stressed? Having trouble in your relationships? Having difficulty coping with change or loss or grief? I help people who are struggling with change, anxiety, and stress to better navigate these struggles and manage their emotions and thoughts more effectively. I also help people who are having issues in their relationships to better navigate their relationships and improve their communication skills. When people have had a loss and are experiencing grief, I help them process their emotions and thoughts and help them find meaning. I can help you, too.

I believe that clients are experts in themselves, and the counseling process serves as a vehicle for exploration, understanding, and change. Adversity and negative past experiences are part of all of our stories, but they do not define us. Counseling gives a space to reflect into the past providing an understanding of the influence these experiences have on our lives today. Using clients' insights, strengths and resilience I support and help our clients become the people they wish to be. My favorite part of supporting client's is supporting them in self-discovery and strengthening their sense of self. I strongly believe in providing high quality services to all individuals and affirming the dignity, worth and value of all. My approach as a therapist is a person-centered approach and strength based. I am also trained in CBT and integrate different interventions to meet client needs. I strive to create an open safe space for individuals to be their authentic-self and receive acceptance, kindness, and support. My goal for you is to give you the space you deserve to show the most authentic version of yourself feeling supported and empowered. The therapeutic alliance I believe is a collaborative one because you are the only expert of you. Client's work collaboratively with me to create the goals we will work towards. By the end of treatment, I want clients to have a strengthened sense of self as well as resilience, tools and techniques. I am a recent graduate from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine earning my Master's in Mental Health Counseling. I am the proud owner of Project Rise Counseling & Advocacy. I am a pre-licensed professional which means I am supervised by a licensed professional Alisa Trout. Navigating the complexities of being human can be as rewarding as it is complicated. Our journeys are filled with moments that require us to muster resilience, practice self-compassion, and foster hope—even when the path seems unclear. It's not uncommon to find ourselves ensnared in cycles of negative thinking that foster shame, grappling with emotional regulation that impacts our relationships, or struggling to stay anchored in the present, affecting our decision-making abilities. At K & K Holistic Counseling, we are dedicated to guiding you through these challenges, helping you cultivate a life of significance and joy. Our mission is to offer a therapeutic environment that is both welcoming and collaborative, focusing on the individual as a whole rather than a constellation of symptoms. With our expertise in DBT, Person-Centered Therapy, and trauma-informed approaches, we partner with you to set and achieve goals that resonate with your deepest values. If you are prepared to embark on a journey toward breaking free from counterproductive cycles and embracing a more fulfilled existence, we invite you to connect with us.
Therapy is more about building new associations, making new, healthier default pathways. It is almost as if therapy is taking your two-lane dirt road and building a four-lane freeway alongside it. The old road stays, but you don’t use it much anymore. Therapy is building a better alternative, a new default. And that takes repetition, and time, honestly, it works best if someone understands how the brain changes. This is why understanding how trauma impacts our health is essential for everyone.” ~ Dr. Bruce Perry I am a licensed professional counselor with over 10 years of experience in various mental health settings such as Outpatient facilities, Inpatient hospitals, Crisis Center, but mainly in public and private alternative school settings.
