Our practice specializes in working with challenges related to trauma and attachment, both in childhood and adulthood. This includes sexual/relationship violence, family of origin challenges (including ACOA issues), and childhood abuse and neglect. This also includes supporting young adults in understanding their own attachment patterns and gaining insight into their patterns in order to increase their ability to find, seek out, and maintain healthy relationships. I specialize in attachment based EMDR therapy, which is incredibly useful for addressing distressing events (in the past or present); chronic stress, severe anxiety, and feeling like you are "stuck" on an issue that just doesn't seem to go away. It can also help resolve old wounds that are impacting current relationships. I'm here to help make the process of beginning therapy easier and help create a sense of safety by collaborating with you to address your needs. I also respect that paying for therapy can be complicated. I specialize in working with folks who are curious about or identify as neurodivergent neurospicy, on the spectrum, and/or autistic (especially those who learned of this identify in adulthood), who are looking for support in processing their experiences and/or the trauma and grief that can sometimes accompany being neurodivergent in a world set up for neurotypical people. Being neurodivergent in a neurotypical world can be incredibly draining often leading to burnout with no societal accommodations to recover from that burnout. Many times in the past, I have got so caught up with multiple responsibilities, that I stopped caring well for myself, which hindered my ability to meet my responsibilities. I have found it necessary, at those times, to cut back and turn my attention to self-care. Whatever difficulty you may be facing, academic, relationships, or emotional, I encourage you to get help. The sooner you address it, the easier it is to correct. The treatment approach will depend upon your needs.
