Life is a journey filled with twists, turns, and unexpected challenges. The hurdles that we face on this journey make it common to feel lost, overwhelmed, and confused, but the commonality of these feelings does not make them any less intense. I understand the profound impact that life's challenges can have, and I have had the privilege of helping numerous people through some of their most difficult times. While working with me, you'll discover that I am down to earth and approachable. I will meet you wherever you are mentally and emotionally, providing a space where you can be authentic and vulnerable without judgment. I believe in fostering a therapeutic relationship built on trust, empathy, and mutual respect. Collaboration will be at the heart of our work together. Your goals, desires, and aspirations will take center stage, and I will be dedicated to working with you to create a roadmap for your journey towards well-being. We will explore the areas you wish to address and develop strategies tailored to your unique needs and preferences. Flexibility is another key aspect of my therapeutic process. I recognize that each person is different, and what works for one person may not work for another. Therefore, I am committed to adapting my approach to align with your preferences and what you find most helpful. Your comfort and satisfaction are of utmost importance, and we will continuously reassess and refine our therapeutic strategies to ensure they resonate with you. Addressing life’s challenges takes courage, and I commend you for taking this important step towards positive change. Sometimes we have moments in our lives were we feel lost in our present and wonder where our confident past self went. We have other moments where we feel pulled in many directions by friends, family, work, and or school. This feeling of being pulled is overwhelming and sometimes brings about guilt. My name is Adenike (Aah-deh-knee-keh). I am a first-generation Nigerian/Haitian, queer, cis woman; my pronouns are she/her. Let’s sit down and talk about life. I will hold a safe, trusting, and non-judgmental space for your unique life experiences, true authentic self, and help guide you through life in a way that feels most comfortable
I love working with people who think they may have lost the plot. Who wonder if their symptoms may be a natural reaction to our society and our utter disconnection....from everything. I see you, and I get it. I think there is more to a life well-lived than mainstream notions of success. Come explore your life through values exploration and honest self-assessment, whether short or long-term. Welcoming and affirming for LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC. I have an eclectic approach, which is a fancy way of saying that I don't rely on any one way of approaching curiosities. But my starting point is always from a place of your strengths, the things you are doing well, and your unique interests/wants/needs. I trend toward elements from Acceptance and Commitment, Positive Psychology, Existentialism, Brief Solution- Focused, Motivational Interviewing, Behavioral Activation, Radical Acceptance, and Mindfulness. I am progressive in my politics, non-religious, and I believe that cursing is a valid form of self-expression. Humor is a big part of how I communicate and I believe it can get us through a lot of things. Despite being a middle-aged white woman who grew up in the south, you will find no bigoted mindset here. I will never pretend to understand the totality of your experience, but I do promise to see you, hear you, and respect you, while being mindful of the systemic, familial, and cultural issues that may be impacting you. I have stopped taking insurance because of all the barriers it creates from its medical model of viewing functionality and need. I know this creates a financial barrier for some, but I believe that until the system changes, its more of a detriment overall. But lets check those out-of-network benefits and see what we can squeeze out of the insurance company for you :)

I am a licensed clinical social worker and yoga instructor. I take an holistic, integrative approach to mental health treatment assisting my clients in building healthy lifestyles that provide proactive protection, maintenance, and or obtainment of optimal mental health and wellness. A holistic approach means that we will explore how mindful awareness, relationships, meaningful academic/career pursuits, sleep, nutrition, rest and relaxation, environment, conventional and complementary medical care, finances, and spirituality, are impacting your mental health and wellbeing. I assist my clients in getting to the root causes of their inability to make and sustain healthy lifestyle practices. This often includes supporting my clients in identifying core beliefs and societal pressures that influence their unhealthy, limiting, and ineffective behaviors. With this increased awareness, I support my clients in courageously aligning their actions with their personal passions, desires, and values.

My choice to enter the field of nutrition originates from my personal journey of overcoming struggles with food and my commitment to challenging and deconstructing diet culture. I have worked in various levels of care for eating disorder recovery as a dietitian and clinical director. I grew up in rural Virginia and still get excited that I live close to a Target these days. When I am not seeing clients you can find me watching BRAVO TV, reading my Kindle, and going out for sushi. Philosophy & Approach: I use a Health at Every Size® (HAES) and Intuitive Eating framework. My approach is rooted in body neutrality, prioritizing overall well-being, without a focus on weight. Rather than fixating on numbers, I encourage fostering positive connections with food. My sessions are client-centered. You know your body best therefore I am here as a supporting hand. I founded Embrace Nutrition with the purpose of individuals having a safe and non-judgmental space to develop healthier relationships with food & their natural body size. I specialize in binge eating disorder but work with all diagnosis and eating challenges. My goal in our work together is for you to feel empowered. The constant messages from diet culture are exhausting and confusing. I take time to listen & learn so I can be a partner to you in this journey Embracing one's body, nourishment, and unique journey are fundamental principles that guide my approach as an eating disorder dietitian.
Many students I work with seem to be “doing fine” on the outside but feel anxious, overwhelmed, or emotionally drained inside. They may overthink constantly, put intense pressure on themselves to succeed, carry family expectations, or try to move forward while still feeling the weight of painful past experiences. Some feel responsible for everyone else’s needs. Others are tired of always being the strong one. Many feel alone with emotions that seem bigger than they expected. If you notice you shut down when things get intense, struggle to set boundaries, or feel stuck in patterns you don’t fully understand, there’s usually a reason for that. In therapy, we don’t just manage symptoms. We figure out what’s driving them. My goal is for you to feel more grounded, more confident, and more secure in yourself, not just getting through college, but actually feeling better.

Hello and welcome! Whether you’re stepping into parenthood, navigating relationship changes, or simply trying to find your footing again, it’s natural to feel unsteady along the way. I specialize in mental health support during life transitions with clients who are navigating stress, identity shifts, and relationship challenges. Many of my clients describe themselves as highly sensitive or as people who put others first. If that sounds like you—constantly giving, saying “yes” when you’d rather say “no,” or feeling guilty for needing care yourself—you’re not alone. Our work together will focus on quieting self-doubt, strengthening your confidence, and helping you feel like you again. My approach is warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. We keep our work grounded and conversational, with space for both depth and laughter—because humor heals too. Reaching out takes courage, and even nurturers deserve care, compassion, and grace in a world not built for us. I look forward to working together!
