Little Bird Psychotherapy is a therapeutic space for clients to explore and understand themselves with a sense of compassion and curiosity. Rooted in a commitment to collaborative care free of judgement and shame, Little Bird welcomes those with a desire to discover and rediscover who they are in order to embody their most authentic and joyful selves. We are who we have always been; Little Bird can help you see who that is. I enjoy working with adults of all ages seeking support with eating disorders/body image, gender/sexuality exploration, unique stressors of graduate school, and family of origin issues. Abolition is the primary value that guides both my own life and practice. In sessions, this involves a deep understanding and compassion for all persons and their parts and a commitment to maintaining space free of pathologization and hierarchical relationships between therapist and client. I am deeply invested in anti-carceral approaches to healing. For clients wanting to engage in a collaborative relationship to foster healing, find joy in their authentic selves, and practice more self compassion, this might be your nest.

I have experience working with adults and teens in an outpatient setting. A priority of mine is helping clients develop healthy coping mechanisms to reduce stress, depression, anxiety, and burnout. Everyone’s healing journey is unique, so I utilize a multi-dimensional approach, incorporating both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) with a person-centered approach. I customize sessions to find what works best for each person. It is my honor to be a part of your healing journey. I believe in creating a safe, empowering, and collaborative space for each of my clients while holding space for each client to be unapologetically themselves. My goal is to help you live a happier life and reach your highest potential!

Hi, I’m Clayton, a licensed mental health counselor and marriage and family therapist. I believe that healing begins when we feel seen, heard, and accepted for who we are. My goal is to create a space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions without judgment — whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, identity concerns, relationship challenges, or simply trying to understand yourself on a deeper level. I work with individuals, couples, and families from all walks of life, including those in the LGBTQ+ community, students adjusting to new transitions, and anyone striving to improve their emotional well-being. My approach is collaborative and compassionate — blending evidence-based techniques with genuine curiosity about your story. Together, we’ll work toward developing insight, strengthening coping skills, and helping you feel more grounded and confident in who you are. Therapy is not about “fixing” you; it’s about understanding, growth, and learning to embrace your own perfect imperfections. If you’re ready to begin that process, I’m here to walk alongside you every step of the way.

I work with you to not just understand what's going on, but also to develop tools to help. Tools to stop panic attacks, tools to manage depression, tools to get organized and figure out what you want in life. We work together to see what works reliably for you. In addition to talking things through, in session and between sessions sometimes you might be writing, sometimes trying a challenging behavior change, sometimes engaging in mindfulness, and sometimes using visualizations. My aim is for you to feel better, and to know what to do to keep feeling better or help yourself if problems resurface. And I try to work efficiently with you, so you are back to your life (and ending therapy) as soon as makes sense for you. Give me a call to set up an initial (free) conversation, at 303-870-9195.

My passion for psychiatry began during my undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan, where I graduated with a degree in neuroscience and a GPA of 3.9. Due to my academic excellence, I was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, America’s oldest honor society, which includes 17 former U.S. Presidents and 40 Supreme Court Justices among its members. Before pursuing a career in medicine, I taught Algebra to middle school students in New York City as a public school educator. I was initially hired to help students pass their state exams, and to my surprise, they succeeded. This experience reinforced my belief in the importance of education. At Rush University, I hold three administrative roles: Executive Chief Resident, Education Chief, and Internal Moonlighting Coordinator. As Executive Chief Resident, I organize two literature review series: Rush’s Journal Club and a program called “Controversies in Psychopharmacology,” which explores new and controversial topics in psychiatry. Together with faculty, I also coordinate the PRITE exam review series. As an enthusiastic test-taker, I achieved scores above the 90th percentile in neuroscience on the 2020 and 2021 exams. Additionally, I oversee the Balint group, a support group aimed at addressing physician burnout and promoting wellness among residents. In my role as Education Chief, I manage Rush’s Teaching Clinic, designed to support medical students. I regularly lecture to both medical students and residents. I have collaborated with my co-residents to create a personalized tutoring series for at-risk medical students focused on helping them pass their NBME shelf exams; I’m proud to report that 100% of my mentees have successfully passed. Furthermore, I co-lead a neuroscience curriculum aligned with materials from the National Neuroscience Curriculum Initiative (NNCI) and deliver lectures to my co-residents. As the Internal Moonlighting Coordinator at Rush, I ensure continuous and effective psychiatric care in the emergency department. I have logged over 1,000 hours in the emergency room, gaining experience in stabilizing high-acuity situations such as psychosis, mania, and agitation. This role has also provided me with valuable experience in accounting and bookkeeping, allowing me to work closely with the payroll department. I am actively involved in the Illinois Psychiatric Society, the Illinois branch of the American Psychiatric Association (APA). I serve on several committees, including the anti-racism committee and the government affairs committee. My interests lie in interventional psychiatry, and I currently work at Rush’s TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) and ketamine clinic. In October, I collaborated with IV Chicago Solutions and shadowed Dr. Eugene Lipov, a pioneer of the stellate ganglion block procedure for treating PTSD. Big life changes have a way of catching you off guard. In one moment, you’ve got things under control and the next time you look up, there is a whole new set of demands. Whether it’s stumbling through the stages of grief, adjusting to a new living situation, caring for someone you love, making a life decision, or just balancing situations you didn’t see coming, you don’t have to manage alone! My style of therapy is engaging, warm and goal-oriented. Others have described me as authentic, genuine, non-judgmental and empathic. I work with adolescents and adults who are struggling with a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, school/work related challenges, family conflict, relationship issues, life transition issues and parenting difficulties. I am skilled in a variety of interventions including the evidenced based approaches of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I draw from these approaches, depending on my client’s goals and what I deem will be most effective. I received my Masters in Clinical Counseling at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I practiced and trained in Chicago for 9 years before moving to Indiana. Prior to starting my private practice, I worked in various settings including psychiatric hospitals, partial hospitalization programming, intensive outpatient programming, within a group practice and a community mental health center.
