I have a specialty in treating OCD and Addictions using IFS (Internal Family Systems) Therapy, EMDR, and AEDP Therapy. However, I do see people for a wide range of other issues aside from my two specialties. I am certified in Both IFS and EMDR Therapy. Deciding to see a therapist requires awareness and regard for oneself. I have deep respect for what has brought you here, and this will form the foundation of our work together. Perhaps you seek therapy now because of a crisis that is presenting new challenges or bringing up old, unresolved problems. Or you now feel ready to address a long-standing pattern that has caused much difficulty and pain over time. Your struggles may be affecting not only your relationships with others but also how you relate to yourself. My job is to help you expand your capacity for what you can do alone. I offer a combination of psychoanalytic and CBT/DBT informed approaches while being mindful of both the universality and cultural individuality of our experiences. I have worked extensively with a range of people, from those in the throes of PTSD or addiction to ones dealing with transitions or looking for greater connection in relationships. I hold the conviction that exploration of the past is necessary as it influences and shapes our circumstances, while at times being present to our anxieties and resources in the moment is crucial. By coming here, you have already begun your work. If you think that I may be of help, let us have a conversation. It would be my privilege to talk with you.
Hi, I'm Julie Dunne PhD, PMHNP. I am a Clinical Associate Professor at Boston College, a psychiatric nurse practitioner and a registered yoga teacher. At Drishti Holistic Wellness, I specialize in providing mindful mental health services, including prescribing psychiatric medications and using Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). I utilize mindfulness-based techniques, such as MBCT and yoga in my treatment plans to support holistic mental health and meet the unique wellness goals of my clients. I provide new prescriptions or refills of psychiatric medications based on the needs and preferences of my clients.
College can be overwhelming: academics, social life, family pressures, and future plans are a lot to navigate all at once. My goal is to support students through these challenges by creating a space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered. Together, we’ll work on building real-life coping skills, finding your personal strengths, and making room for growth and healing, no matter where you’re starting from. I take a big-picture approach, helping you look at how different parts of your life, like your relationships, identity, cultural background, and environment, affect your mental health. I specialize in helping students manage anxiety, depression, and high-stress situations, and I’m experienced in offering calm, practical support when things feel like they’re falling apart. I also believe that connection is key to healing. Whether it’s getting involved on campus, leaning on your support system, or just knowing you’re not alone, community can make a big difference. I often collaborate with school counselors, doctors, and even coaches or personal trainers to make sure you're supported in every area of your life. Because mental wellness isn't just about getting through the hard times; it's about building a strong foundation for everything that comes next.
Life often presents us with challenges that can be difficult to cope with alone. Whether these struggles come from our work, school, relationships or family dynamics, psychotherapy is often where solutions can be found. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we can unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life. If you're looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you're just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I am available to work with you to achieve your goals. Know that you are not alone.

Perhaps you’ve been feeling overwhelmed recently. Or you’re struggling with constant worry and stress. Being a young woman and trying to find your way into adulthood is not an easy path. Anxiety is a common feeling during this time, and a natural human emotion, but too much of it can prevent us from leading the life we want. We all go through difficult times, and sometimes we need a little extra support to see our way through. I view my role as a therapist as a supportive and encouraging guide. Together we’ll explore unhelpful thoughts and patterns getting in the way of you becoming the woman you want to be.
I view therapy as a collaborative, client-centered process in which I help clients explore difficult emotions, ineffective behaviors, relationships, and work to increase greater self-compassion and understanding. I value building a caring and safe relationship with my clients and use a great deal of humor in my work. I support young adults with a wide range of struggles and utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities. My experience consists of providing psychotherapy and neuropsychological testing in a variety of settings including schools, community mental health centers, outpatient clinics, partial hospitalization programs, and residential treatment facilities.
School can be a stressful time. In addition to managing any mental health issues you might be experiencing, you also feel pressure to do well academically, or have anxiety about your career, or be unhappy with friendships on campus and feeling alone, or having difficulty adjusting to the increased demands on their time or to the new environment. I work with students who are struggling in these areas, and have extensive experience working specifically with college and graduate school students, so I understand both the unique challenges and common stressors you're facing. In addition, I have specific expertise in helping young adults navigate dating and romantic relationships in the college setting. In fact, my doctoral project focused on understanding how young adults experience hookup culture. My goal is to help clients reduce anxiety, manage depression and bipolar disorders, resolve relationship issues, navigate difficult life transitions, and maintain healthy habits and lifestyles. Many people feel overwhelmed and lost, unhappy in their situation but unable to make positive change or find satisfaction in life. They rely on old habits to feel better such as avoidance by overworking or isolating, escaping through technology or substances, or being self-critical in hopes this will force themselves to change. In individual therapy I help my clients understand how their past has shaped their present, identify immediate and future goals, learn healthy ways to cope and grow, and find meaning in their lives. I also have a specific interest in helping people understand patterns in their relationships and improving their connections with others.
Do you sometimes feel unsure of who you are? Are you going nonstop because being still feels impossible? Do you find that you're often trying to make yourself fit others' expectations, leaving you feeling uncomfortable in your own skin? Maybe you've lost a sense of who you are, always questioning everything you do and not wanting to be too much. You might freeze up, experiencing headaches and tension. You could be trying to control things like food intake or find yourself late-night bingeing. The ways you used to cope don't serve you anymore, leading to shame spirals and constant self-blame. It's hard to prioritize yourself when your mind is always racing. But you want more from life. You want to understand yourself, live in the present, and create a life that aligns with your values. You crave connection with others, the freedom to move comfortably, and the ability to trust your emotions. Your goal is to feel safe and free in your body, build healthy relationships, and find liberation. Therapy can help you find peace and deeper connections, especially when dealing with trauma and PTSD. Reaching out is a courageous act. In our sessions, we’ll focus on curiosity, presence, connection, and ease. I will provide a safe, non-judgmental space where your experiences are valued. Building trust is key. As a neurodivergent person in a larger body, I offer a unique perspective and empathy. My approach is rooted in cultural humility, offering HAES-aligned, fat-positive, neurodiversity-affirming, and gender and sexuality affirming care. We’ll mix processing and skill-building to help you manage emotions and reconnect with your body. Therapy can help you break trauma cycles and find fulfillment. Let’s take this step together, toward healing, connection, and peace.
Welcome. My name is Kate, and I offer psychodynamically oriented, trauma-informed, compassionate, and affirming therapy to folks of all kinds. I work with people across the lifespan, many of whom identify as queer and/or neurodivergent and are trying to make sense of a world that can feel overwhelming. Some are living with long-term stress, trauma, anxiety, or depression, while others are seeking support with life transitions, relationships, or family dynamics. I also offer clinical supervision. Clients often value working with me when they feel ready to explore their inner world more deeply—to better understand the hopes and fears beneath relational and behavioral patterns that increase suffering. I also regularly offer skills-based techniques, drawing from DBT, to help with in-the-moment management of distress and emotional overwhelm. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is fundamental to a successful experience. My hope is to provide every client with a safe, supportive space to explore, learn more about themselves, feel truly seen, heard and accepted, build new skills, grow, and reconnect with who they really are. I look forward to connecting with you.
Do you find yourself stuck or pained in relationships - with yourself, others, the world, or your past? The struggle may show up as loneliness, emptiness, maladaptive interpersonal patterns, or as symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, disordered eating etc. I strive to create trust in a nonjudgmental and authentic atmosphere, from where we work together to understand and help resolve your struggles. My style in session is warm, collaborative, and actively engaged. I'm not a passive listener who nods along silently—I'm present with you, noticing what's happening in the room, gently drawing attention to patterns, emotions, and moments that matter, including the ones you might be inclined to gloss over. Sometimes our work is more experiential—slowing down to sit with what's emerging rather than rushing past it. Other times it's more practical and action-oriented—working on concrete strategies, trying new behaviors, or building skills you can use between sessions. I blend insight-oriented, cognitive-behavioral, and emotion-focused approaches in individualized ways that fit who you are and what you're working through. I bring extensive experience across college counseling centers and mental health clinics, having most recently served as a staff psychologist at Harvard University Health Services, and previously at Case Western Reserve University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Northwestern University (where I completed my postdoctoral fellowship). I am now in full-time private practice. I'm also the Chinese translator of Irvin Yalom's Existential Psychotherapy and The Gift of Therapy, and serve on the Expert Committee at Jiandanxinli (简单心理), the largest therapist platform in China.
I specialize in supporting and treating women through many transitions that come along throughout life - including school/college issues, general life stress, relationship struggles, anxiety, emotional pain related to reproductive challenges to postpartum anxiety and depression. I have expertise with new and veteran moms around the complexities of motherhood and the ongoing need for support. In my practice, I take a warm, collaborative, and supportive approach with my clients. I provide a safe place to come up with new ways to cope and manage during complex times in life. I would be honored to work with you and be part of your journey.

I’ve had the privilege of working with students from all walks of life—PhD candidates at MIT, first-year undergraduates just beginning their college experience, and international students who have traveled across the world to study in the Boston area. I understand the unique mix of excitement, pressure, and expectation that comes with academic life, and I know that the right therapeutic support can make all the difference between simply getting through college and truly thriving in it. We don’t leave our pasts behind when we move onto campus. Sometimes, unresolved experiences or past trauma can create barriers to feeling fulfilled or confident in this new chapter. College is about much more than your major—it’s a time of self-discovery, growth, and learning how to navigate both independence and connection. Whether you’re seeking support for stress management, identity exploration, or processing painful experiences, I’m here to help you build insight, resilience, and a stronger sense of self as you move through this important stage of life.
