Through my own lived experience, I can deeply resonate with the realities my Millennial and Gen Z clients face. Dating, social media, politics, finances, and demands from school or work can be so daunting. My main priority as a therapist is to create a non-judgmental, engaging, and approachable environment where you feel empowered to navigate these challenges together. Just having one of those days where you need to vent about your mom, partner, or roommate? There’s plenty of space for that too. While I pull from many approaches in my work, I especially enjoy utilizing skills-based therapies like Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I). These can address concerns like anxiety, stress, interpersonal conflict, sleep, and more. My goal is that you leave each and every session feeling more ready to take on what life is throwing your way. If you’re looking to gain control amidst our out-of-control world, I’d love to connect with you. Please don’t hesitate in reaching out for a free 15-minute consultation.

You might seem like you’re holding it all together, but inside feel overwhelmed or disconnected. Many high-achieving students carry the weight of expectations from family, culture, and society. That pressure can leave you exhausted, unsure of yourself, and out of touch with your own needs. I create space for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, neurodiverse, and other historically marginalized students to slow down and be known, accepted, and supported as their full selves. I help students work through identity questions, relationship concerns, stress, burnout, imposter feelings, and the impact of trauma. My approach is warm, direct, and collaborative. You’ll have space to explore the deeper roots of what you're carrying while also building real-world tools to feel more grounded, empowered, and connected. You don’t have to figure it all out alone. Working with me means having a steady, supportive space where you can be real, ask hard questions, and grow at your own pace. We’ll focus on what matters most to you while exploring who you are and what you need to feel more whole. I offer virtual sessions for students anywhere in Massachusetts and would be honored to support you as you move through this next chapter. I provide therapy through Intersect Clinical Services, a preferred provider for Boston-area students. We accept UHC StudentResources and Aetna Student Health with minimal or no out-of-pocket costs.

I work primarily with those suffering from chronic illness. Difficult to treat medical conditions such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic Lyme disease, multiple sclerosis, Lupus, etc. are often poorly understood, and it can be very difficult for patients to find the help and support they need. I teach my clients tools for coping with and managing every day life with these conditions, in addition to mind body medicine practices to help alleviate symptoms and to decrease stress. I have recently started offering Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy as a way to cope with life stressors or trauma.

My approach to therapy is active, relational, and result-oriented, encouraging clients to take hold of their life and find the meaning life holds for them. I work with individuals, couples, and families to address concerns with relationships, identity, intimacy and sexuality, and spirituality, in addition to general psychological problems. I serve as Director of Cambridge Counseling Associates and have served as lecturer and clinical instructor in psychology at Harvard Medical School for more than twenty years, in addition to serving on the Advisory Board of the Dr. Phil Show, where I have participated since its inception. Therapy opens the door to a rewarding process for personal freedom, growth, and fulfillment by understanding and changing patterns and routines that may have made you feel stuck, unproductive, and unhappy. My goal is to help you experience your true self to fully engage your life. (See drchirban.com or cambridgecounseling.com) My specializations include relationships, sexuality, and spirituality. I also assist individuals and families working through divorce and serve as a Guardian ad litem for the State of Massachusetts. The Narrative Network offers collaborative therapy for people across Massachusetts and brings therapists together for supervision, training, and ongoing relationships with the ideas and practices called narrative therapy. We believe people are more than the problems they are facing. Difficulties take shape in lives, relationships, histories, and social worlds — and therapy can create room to notice the values, knowledges, commitments, and relationships that may have become harder to see when life is difficult.

I work best with students who are trying to better understand themselves. You may be questioning who you are, navigating different parts of your identity, or feeling pulled in multiple directions by family, culture, relationships, school, or your own expectations. Maybe you’ve spent so much time taking care of others or trying to meet everyone’s expectations that you’ve lost touch with what you want. I enjoy working with students who are curious about the deeper patterns in their lives. Together, we’ll explore how your experiences, relationships, and identities have shaped the way you see yourself and connect with others. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, perfectionism, relationship challenges, life transitions, trauma, or questions about identity and belonging, therapy can be a space to make sense of your experiences and move toward a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling. My goal is to help you develop practical tools for the present while also gaining a deeper understanding of yourself so you can approach your relationships, decisions, and future with greater confidence, self-compassion, and clarity.
