At Rivia Medical, we believe in a holistic approach to mental health, with a focus on both treatment and prevention. We believe in listening to each patient and creating a partnership to work on maintaining and improving lifelong health. This includes creating a personalized treatment plan that incorporates the best evidence-based care, but which also takes into account your personal circumstances, perspectives, goals and expectations. High quality mental healthcare is hard to find and hard to afford. We wanted to create a place where people could find reliable and informed psychiatrists, nurse practitioners and therapists, and have the option to explore treatment options other than medication. We are a team of well-trained psychiatrists, nurse practitioners and social workers. We keep ourselves educated and informed. And we focus on understanding you, the individual, in detail before deciding on the right treatment. What excites us about our practice is the excellent clinicians in our group, and the fascinating patients and clients we get to help. We are dedicated to providing comprehensive evaluations and treatment for those suffering from psychiatric symptoms, or psychological distress.
Working with me is a collaborative experience. I like to think of it as a road trip. You’re in the driver’s seat. I’m in the passenger seat, helping navigate. You tell me what you’re seeing. What feels confusing. What feels overwhelming. What feels stuck. And together, we figure out where you actually want to go. Sometimes we’ll take a left into childhood, family dynamics, and old stories that shaped you. Sometimes we’ll take a right into present-day tools, boundaries, communication skills, and routines. You’re the expert in your life, what has worked, what hasn’t and what is important to you now. I bring my psych knowledge, tools, and experience with clients. When we combine these. We can get you where you want to go. People say education is power and I agree, but information alone is useless. When I use my education, it’s not to lecture, instead it’s to empower you to challenge you to integrate it. Once you understand what’s happening in your mind and body, you’re not just reacting anymore. You’re choosing. Sometimes I’ll challenge you. Sometimes you’ll challenge me. That’s part of real collaboration. When I work with someone, I’m committed to this process with you. I’ll show up fully, adapt to who you are, and push you compassionately toward growth. You don’t have to do this alone. Let’s take this road trip together.

Many of the students I work with are used to pushing through, even when they're overwhelmed. They may be questioning their career path, struggling with perfectionism, procrastination, people pleasing, or feeling like they're falling behind while everyone else seems to have life figured out. Others are navigating ADHD, anxiety, grief, relationship challenges, identity exploration, or family stress. As a college professor and psychologist, I understand the unique pressures students face and help them better understand the patterns that keep them stuck, build confidence in their decisions, and develop a stronger sense of who they are both in and outside of the classroom.
At Centered Mental Health Counseling , we believe that everyone deserves to live a fulfilling life. Our team of compassionate counselors are here to help you work through any challenges you may be facing and find the happiness and peace you deserve. College can be a great time to start exploring relationships and even making long-term bonds. However, the stresses of college life can challenge even the most loving of relationships. I assist couples to identify communication and intimacy issues that prevent them from connecting both physically and emotionally. There is no size fits all. Thus, I seek to collaborate with my clients to co-create a therapeutic experience that creates the trust necessary to do deeper work.

College can feel like a constant balancing act between expectations, relationships, and the pressure to have it all figured out. I specialize in working with high-achieving individuals who look successful on the outside but privately struggle with anxiety, perfectionism, and self-doubt. Many of my clients are insightful and self-aware–they know why they feel the way they do, but that insight alone hasn’t been enough to shift how they feel. My approach focuses on helping you reconnect with your emotional experiences as valuable sources of information, not something to fix or avoid. Together, we’ll explore what’s beneath the overthinking so you can feel more grounded, confident, and emotionally resilient. Clients describe me as warm, thoughtful, and collaborative. I create a space where you can feel both deeply supported and gently challenged. If this resonates, I’d love to connect for a free consultation.

I have over 14 years of clinical experience. I have worked with an array of clients over the years which include focuses in anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, and crisis stabilization. Hi & welcome. My college years were a time of great learning and friendship, and also, of significant loss. This led to my own passion of supporting young adults facing challenges and grief during this important life stage. I have extensive experience working with grieving individuals - children, teens, college students, and adults - including after incidents of mass trauma. My practice (CT/NY) also provides support to those struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, family and relationship difficulties, academic and career challenges, self-doubt, and stressors due to caregiving. My therapeutic approach is eclectic and results-oriented and incorporates elements of psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). I also value the role of creative expression and appreciate how art, play, and narrative therapies impact healing. I value each client as unique and resilient. I offer compassion, warmth, and humor as we collaborate to work towards building on your strengths, increasing your coping skills, and creating the changes you hope to see. We're a team and we got this!
I have done psychotherapy with graduate students, especially around relationship, bereavement (particularly early parental loss), anxiety and fertility issues for over twenty years. I believe that most emotional pain stems from both difficult life circumstances and how we perceive those events. I work in an open, warm and empathically challenging way to help people better explore, understand and wrestle with the issues that are keeping them from finding more peace, joy, freedom and fulfillment.
I am looking for people who are looking for change (some change takes 2). I have some insight into the college experience and am able to connect with students pursuing diverse interests: I have graduate degrees in literature, business administration, and social work. My eclectic professional and cultural background helps me build rapport and join with people from all walks of life, young and old. My bilingual upbringing and life experience allows me to practice psychotherapy in Russian with native Russian speakers.
I believe in a personalized approach that meets you where you are in your life. I incorporate a variety of different styles and techniques depending on what is going on in your life and what you need. In the initial sessions, you can expect me to get to know you and what is going on in your life. Known for being thoughtful and understanding, I ask questions to spark reflection and help you gain insights. Establishing a solid connection is essential; I aim to create a space where you feel at ease, understood, and never pressured to share anything until you're ready. My work is rooted in cultural humility, inclusivity, and trauma-informed care. I am committed to affirming LGBTQ+ identities, honoring neurodivergence, and understanding how race, culture, gender, class, and ability shape each person’s unique experience.
