Hey there! College is a whole other world—fun, stressful, overwhelming, and everything in between. Maybe you’re juggling deadlines, relationships, family pressure, or just trying to figure out who the heck you are and what you actually want. If anxiety, burnout, or self-doubt are getting in the way of your happiness (or your grades), you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it all out by yourself. I help college students who feel stuck, anxious, or drained by people-pleasing and perfectionism. Together, we’ll work through the stress, heal old wounds, and build confidence so you can actually enjoy your life—not just push through it. My approach is supportive, down-to-earth, and tailored to you. Whether you need a space to vent, tools to handle stress, or a deeper dive into what’s holding you back, I’m here to help. If you’re ready to feel more in control of your life, let’s chat.

I'm a college professor at Fordham University in the psychology department. I specialize in working with college students experiencing anxiety (including social anxiety, OCD, worry, panic, phobias, and more). I graduated from Duke University with a psychology major and I have a PhD in clinical psychology from UCLA. I usually work from a cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) orientation, which is the top evidence-based approach for many forms of anxiety, but this can be flexible depending on client needs & preferences. Are you ready to work with a therapist who truly sees you? At With Heart With Soul Therapy, we believe that healing is not about ”fixing,” it’s about reclaiming who you are, improving internal and external relationships, and embracing authenticity. We understand how past wounds, or the weight of expectations, can make it hard to hear or trust your own voice. Here, there is opportunity to slow down, breathe, and reconnect; using a mind, body, soul approach, we integrate traditional evidence-based therapy and holistic healing to support those navigating deep emotions and life’s complexities, or moving from surviving to thriving. This practice specializes in holding space for resilient souls, cycle breakers, and self-healers. Our team of clinicians are genuine, skilled, and heart-centered people who bring both expertise and compassion to the work we do. We create a therapeutic space where you can process your inner and outer worlds, develop coping strategies, and reclaim your power and voice.

I am a clinical psychologist licensed in New York. I live and work in Ithaca, where I see clients both virtually, via video conference, and in person at my home office. I work with individuals from young adult to senior. My primary approaches are dynamic and Person Centered. I am also very comfortable with more solutions focused therapies like CBT and am trained in specialty approaches including CBT-i (CBT for insomnia), Motivational Interviewing, and Prolonged Exposure. I work with individuals seeking personal growth, exploring their relationships past and present, managing life transitions, and addressing anxiety, depresssion, and insomnia. College years are stressful, and the traditional “college years” are years of intense personal change and development. It is a crucial time to have support, to examine the self, to grow into your own preferences and potential. I use Headway for billing and scheduling - please visit my website to arrange a consultation to have a conversation to help us both decide if my practice is a good fit for your needs. The prices posted for initial and follow up sessions are for cash pay - if I am in network with your insurance, it is accepted as payment in full, although you may also have a co-pay depending on your coverage. When you go to my website you will notice that I offer initial 10 minute phone consultation at no charge. These are not treatment, but are designed to give us both a chance to see if my practice is a good fit for you and your therapy needs. I look forward to speaking with you

By working together, I have confidence that we can collaborate to create new experiences, beginnings, and perspectives. My style is warm, compassionate, and empathetic while also using my sense of humor when appropriate. In a non-judgmental and safe environment, we will collaborate to ensure that our work together is meaningful and goal-oriented, suited to fit your needs. Life begins at the end of your comfort zone." It's time to start living the life that is calling you.

I offer a collaborative, accepting, and reflective space where you can better understand yourself and what’s getting in the way of the life you want. I help people explore emotional and relational patterns with curiosity and self-compassion. Many of my clients come to me struggling with anxiety, depression, or challenges in their relationships. For some, these experiences have been present for a long time; for others, they feel new. I’m proud of the supportive environment I create, and I see it as the foundation of meaningful therapy. Our work is most effective when you feel safe enough to talk about what’s hard to say elsewhere and my primary goal is to help make that possible. My approach is grounded in the belief that real change comes through insight, self-awareness, and genuine human connection.

Many people enter therapy concerned that they will have to make dramatic changes in their lives to find relief. I believe that therapy is not dramatically changing who we are, but rather looking at how our perceptions of ourselves and others create unfulfilling experiences. I think my role as a therapist is to work with each individual to identify their strengths and enhance what is already working for them while examining the patterns that keep them from living life to its fullest. In my experience as a therapist I have helped many children, adolescents and adults overcome sever anxiety and depression and long-standing relationship issues. I also have expertise with families struggling with ongoing divorce and custody issues. I draw from several modalities of therapy, fitting the intervention with the needs of the individual.

Oh college, it's "supposed" to be the best days of your life...whoever came up with that needs a serious reality check. I've been through it and have also worked with enough college students, young adults, and adults of all ages to say that for many of us, that statement is completely false. So please know that if you find that these are not the best days (or even if you feel that these are the worst days), you are not alone. There is nothing "wrong" with you and I am here to help. I unfortunately don't have a magic wand to transform your college experience into something you see in the movies, but I provide a combination of medication management and brief supportive therapy (a fancy way of saying I include some therapy during our 30 minute medication follow up appointments) that can help address concerns like depression, anxiety, obsessive thoughts, and mood disorders. I’ll work with you to create a personalized plan that meets your unique needs and helps you achieve your mental health goals. Talking about medication can be daunting. When I prescribe it, my goal isn’t to change who you are, but to help you rediscover what life can be like when your symptoms are managed. While medication won’t solve every issue, it can be a powerful tool alongside therapy and lifestyle changes, enabling you to reclaim your ability to thrive.

I work in a warm, transparent, and collaborative way. Humor — and sometimes swearing — has a place in session, because I believe both can build distress tolerance. Expect to dive into action: my job is to help you do the hard thing. Together, we’ll confront unhelpful patterns and interrupt the cycle of avoidance through experiential exposure. You’ll practice new ways of facing difficult situations, build specific skills for doing hard things, and move toward what actually matters to you — step by step, toward a life aligned with your values. When you work with me, expect to dive into action. My goal is to help you do the hard thing. Background & Training I received my Ph.D. from Columbia University and have 18+ years of experience providing culturally informed therapy to adults, with specialized training in multicultural psychology. I use evidence-based Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) within an interpersonal framework, integrating attachment theory, IFS and polyvagal-informed trauma approaches. I believe the therapeutic relationship, paired with research-backed methods, can be genuinely transformative. No one gives us a guide on how to be human or how to build a fulfilling life. In therapy, I provide a compassionate space where you can learn how to process and regulate emotions, navigate relationships and boundaries, uncover avoidance patterns, and connect with your core values. Specialties Anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, autism, adult ADHD, identity concerns and exploration, life transitions, and relationship challenges. My work is attachment- and trauma-informed, drawing on mindfulness and emotion-processing skills, experiential exposure, boundary work, and values-based practice to reduce experiential avoidance and build lasting change.
