Hi, My name is Elizabeth “Dr. B” Brillon and I am a licenced clinical social worker in the states of PA and VA, I can assure you that therapy with me is never a cliche. I know how easy it is to feel alone and always ask why you. Some days it's easy to feel trapped looking for the fastest escape. At times you want to burst into tears or other times you feel like you're making all the wrong choices. I can understand if you need a break and want to scream. I'm here to help. Let's explore those issues you may be struggling with together and take back control of your life. I have certifications and a license as an addiction counselor. I have extensive training in trauma. I work well with, have over 15 years of experience and specialize in women's issues, anxiety, depression, aging, loss, trauma, personality disorders, LGBT issues, and childhood sexual trauma. I also work well with depression, stress, and trauma-related issues.

Sometimes change is the only way towards growth Together, we can help you figure out how to move forward in life, embrace transitions, and make more empowering choices. —---- When you’re starting a new school, watching your child grow, or getting used to a new family dynamic… anxiety has a way of getting its hold on you. Without meaning to, you may find yourself spending all of your energy by worrying about, regretting, and resisting change. But worry doesn’t have to get in your way—as long as you can learn to embrace change and growth. I’m 14 years into a rewarding career as a therapist for children and adults. Clients describe my therapy style as warm and approachable. My approach is grounded in the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT,) a form of talk therapy that allows us to notice and address unhealthy patterns in your thinking or behavior by focusing on the everyday things that are happening right now. This means that my sessions include plenty of humor, candor, and self-reflection. I particularly enjoy working with families during moments of educational transition—and as a former School Psychologist, I’m experienced with academic reports and have developed strategies for helping students advocate for what they need. The work I do with clients feels very natural and focused for them. At the end of our sessions, I’ll usually ask you to choose something to try before our next session, which keeps the rapport going. (Clients who have spent a lot of time with me find themselves wondering “what Sandi would say?”) It makes me proud to know when my clients internalize what we're working on and use it between sessions, too. Who I Work With At my office in Haverford, Pennsylvania, I see clients of all ages. Adults take respite with me in my warm and modern office space as we work through changes in their lives, families and careers—while kids enjoy learning new skills with me in a friendly environment (which involves playing lots of games!) Through the PSYPACT network, I see adult clients virtually across 40 participating states. This is especially useful because so many of my clients are young adults beginning college, and working professionals who are settling into a new job. My clients include new parents adjusting to raising kids, college students who are adjusting to life on campus, parents who struggle with their newly empty nest, and many others. In short, anyone whose life or family is entering a new phase. Therapy is an increasingly normal thing in our culture. My clients arrive eager to make peace with something new and scary. A few of my clients even come in and out of therapy with me over the course of many years, choosing to lean on my support during key turning points—and to practice what we learned together during the years in between. They’ve heard me say, over and over again, that it may be time to “update your view of yourself.” If you’re looking for a therapist, that’s probably true for you, too. Let’s Get Started The best way to start is by scheduling an appointment with me for us to begin getting to know each other. You’ll need to want therapy in order for it to work—so get in touch when you’re ready to learn how to plant both feet in this new stage of your life.

Life is full of challenges that test our resilience and leave us questioning or doubting ourselves. Therapy is a place to get the support you need to move forward and discover new meaning and joy in your world. While I tend to focus on the here and now of life’s obstacles, during therapy, we will likely explore family patterns and incorporate mindfulness to help you feel more in control in the future. I focus on working with young adults as they navigate various life transitions. My approach is warm and collaborative. I welcome diversity and honor your unique experience. I have a particular interest in working with individuals experiencing concerns about their sexuality. Deciding to get the help you need is an incredibly brave first step to feeling better. It is important we recognize that bravery and build on the courage that’s already in you to face life’s difficult moments.

I offer a client centered approach to care, valuing honesty, compassion, and accountability. I believe that that the client/therapist relationship should be one that is based on mutual trust & respect, open & honest communication, and ability to work collaboratively on treatment goals. If you are thinking about taking that brave next step, I would love to meet you, and it would be an honor to embark on that journey with you! I offer a remote treatment experience for those that would prefer to remain in the comfort of their own home. When many people begin therapy, they don't know where to start. That is totally normal and no one I see needs to have all the answers right now. The people I work with often are going through a tough transition, experiencing stress at school, struggling with feelings of anxiety or depression, or they may have had something really distressing happen to them. Often, they may be noticing patterns of avoidance, procrastination, and self-shaming. Sometimes they're also experiencing stress in their relationships. Whatever is happening, I honor how challenging the process of reaching out for support can be, and I am here to help by working together with those who come to my practice. I specialize in attachment based EMDR therapy, which is incredibly useful for addressing distressing events (in the past or present); chronic stress, severe anxiety, and feeling like you are "stuck" on an issue that just doesn't seem to go away. It can also help resolve old wounds that are impacting current relationships. I'm here to help make the process of beginning therapy easier and help create a sense of safety by collaborating with you to address your needs. I also respect that paying for therapy can be complicated. To help, I offer a service where I can submit billing info to a service that files documentation with your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursements. If eligible, you may be able to receive a portion of your money back for therapy, making payment easier. I am also able to check to see if you're eligible for reimbursement. If you are a student in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Florida, the next step is to email or call me today. I look forward to connecting!

I believe we all have the potential to live a life that brings us joy and satisfaction. I believe we all have an inner strength that allows us to change and grow, no matter how adverse the circumstances that brought us here. A therapeutic relationship based on trust, honesty, and non-judgment can bring that strength to its rightful place in our lives. I take a holistic and trauma-informed approach to therapy. I recognize that there are generational, environmental, social, political, and cultural factors that impact our day-to-day lives and decisions and believe it's important to consider these factors when learning about my clients and their experiences. When we begin to understand ourselves and our ways of thinking and acting as a part of a larger whole, we can begin to improve the quality of our lives and our relationships, especially our relationship to the self. I help clients create real change through cultivating insight around their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in the context of their life, relationships, and the world around them. I also help clients develop healthier, more effective coping skills. Together, we'll work to deepen your self awareness and build on what is good, strong, and true about yourself.

The world we live in is complicated and ever-changing, and the patterns we develop to address the challenges of life often cease to work for us...in fact, no strategy for living, relating to others, or to ourselves can ever work optimally forever. A depression, a personal life crisis, marital upsets and family conflicts are painful but often signal an important opportunity for self-reflection, assessment of "where I've been" in life, and the chance to create a new pathway for moving forward. This is where an expert therapist can be of value. When I work with a client, I listen to both the words of their story and also the feelings within the words. Often people have never felt free and safe to truly express themselves, to share a painful life event. Therapy can provide that opportunity. FaceTime and Skype sessions...I've been doing them for some time now. It's a great way to have an appointment when you can't get to the office, and it's also an ideal way to begin therapy and determine if I'm the right therapist for you.

My offer to you something is simple and steady: a space where you do not have to perform, impress, or hold it all together. A space where you can exhale. I am especially drawn to working with people in transition especially college students standing on the edge of adulthood and professionalism. Transitions can shake your confidence. They can stir up old shame, old stories, old fears about not being enough. But they are also sacred turning points. They are invitations. Together, we will slow down and tune in. We will examine the narratives you’ve inherited and gently decide which ones no longer serve you. My hope for you is not that you leave therapy “better," but that you leave more fully yourself. I believe healing happens when someone sits with you long enough for you to remember your own strength. I will meet you with depth, honesty, humor and warmth. I will challenge you when needed, celebrate you when earned, and hold the mirror steady when you forget who you are. You do not have to worry alone. Everyone has a story. I look forward to hearing yours.
